Cable tv won't work on my TV

I can't get cable to work on my television. I have the cable hooked straight up to the tv. The tv has numerous video choices and I'm not sure if I'm selecting the wrong one, but I've tried them all and nothing seems to be working.

Go into the menu of the tv and program the channels into it. you will have to tell the tv if you have cable or a anntena, then select auto program. if you do this and the tv still has no channels, try unplugging it for 30 min and try again, if still not working it needs to go into a repair shop.

Desolder and then resolder the cable input tuner located on the circuit board. if this does not fix the problem replace the cable input tuner.

I have a Samsung hdtv but its not playing in hd.I have it hooked up to cable straight from the wall bypassing the cablebox. Is it the tv or cable?

You do not indicate if you have auto programmed the television to get digital channels, If you are selecting a channel without a decimal point, for instance 82.3 is NBC hd in my cable system. If your cable provider does not produce these on direct cable then you can not get HD without a box.
Try to Auto Program your tv in the cable mode STD format, this can take up to 20 minutes to complete scan including deleting scrambled channels. After programming try the lowest or highest analog channel like 2 or 70, channel down or up from there to see if any digital channels appear.

Can't turn off the closed captioning

I had the same problem. Okay, First get the TV remote. not a cable box remote. Next, switch the input to an Analog input. (TV or input one if you have the RC red, white and yellow hook up. or, just hook up the coax cable straight to the TV..
Now, use the TV remote to operate the closed caption. It will work like it should.\
Briefly, closed caption works on the TV with a straight hook up to the TV. It will not work with a cable box.

No video

That is because you are feeding a digital TV with one of the lowest forms of analog cable.  The best thing would be to get a digital box from your cable provider, and hook up to the TV using a digital cable, which at the very least would be a component cable.  This should fix the issue for you.

I am trying to hook up my tv to my receiver, I have a dvd vcr combo, and cable box

Audio: There should be a set of audio outputs on your TV. Connect those to the AUX inputs of your receiver. When you turn on your receiver, set it to AUX. Set your TV volume to approx 1/3 and adjust the volume on your receiver. There's probably a menu section on the TV to turn off your TV speakers so the sound will only come from your receiver.

DVD/VCR (I'll call it DVD from this point forward): Connect the video (yellow) output from the DVD to the "video input" on the back of the TV. Connect the audio out on the DVD player (red) to the red audio input on the back of the TV, then do the same with the other audio (white). When you want to use your DVD player, you'll select "input 1" as the input on the TV.

Cable: Your cable box probably has numerous output types. I have the cable box hooked up to both the DVD player AND to the TV; one output type going to the DVD player and another output type going to the TV. I like to use the HDMI output from the cable box to the TV, and the composite video from the cable box to the DVD.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info.

Program satelite or cable

you are not specific as to programming cable or satellite .if you have cable tv with a cable box there is no need to program tv channels.the tv should be left on channel 3.check the back of the cable box & tv it may also be connected thru rca/s-video or componant cables meaning the tv should be on a line in/source ,or video input. for a tv without a cable box
you can do the auto or manual programming. no need to be on channel 3. if you have satelllite tv you need the box to hook up to your tv.you cannot bypass this box unlike cable tv.also check the back of the box for the other possible connections
good luck

Blue Screen

Hello,
I just wanted to suggest some things for you to try, if you have not done them already. Try hooking up a known good signal, such as the main input cable from your cable or dish, hook it straight to your tv, and see if you can change channels, and get a picture on low band...2 thru 6, and then if not, how about any picture above channel 6, if you get picture on 2 thru 13 now, it could be whatever you have hooked in between the input cable and the tv...be sure you have the tv on the right channel for your receiver, usually 3 or 4, or if you are using another type of video input cable, make sure you have tv on the right input for that cable and that cable is good...check the in and out of your component unit, for correct cable hookup as well as your cables, in reference to using RCA video and audio left and right in and out...a lot of sets and vcr's will go to a blue screen if they lose signal to them....I hope this helps you out some.If you cannot get a picture from hooking your signal straight to your tv, it could be the tuner got a spike from a thunderstorm, or has lost the B Plus source for the tuner circuit. Be sure that it is not selected for an input signal, other than the cable or antenna mode, the onscreen text should verify this, if you can change channels with or without getting video...a picture....Good luck with it. T.

Panasonic legacy connection

s-video is a legacy connection. legacy means obsolete and this will impare your image.

what you should do is connect the cable box and blue ray directly to tv with hdmi cable, then run audio cables back to the reciever from these devices. the vcr and regular dvd player would be routed through the reciever the conventional way. you would have to change the inputs on the tv between the cable box, and blue ray if u have one, and a seperate single tv imput for components running thru the stereo. you would have to use the reciever to select between audio sources, and the video sources between the vcr and dvd only.
