Hi,

There could be a communication problem between the All-In-One and the PC.

1. Check bi directional communication:
=============================

Scan from WIA:

For Windows 2000/Me/98
To isolate the issue I suggest you to try scanning from Imaging for Windows which will scan from the all-in-one product using TWAIN software instead of the HP software.

1.Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.
2.Click Start then Click Programs then Click Accessories then Click Imaging.
3.From the Imaging application, click File, and then click Select Device.
4.Select the HP all-in-one device from the TWAIN source list.
5.Click File, and then Acquire Image.

For XP:
1. Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.
2. Click Start.
3. Click All Programs.
4. Click Accessories.
5. Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.
6. Follow the Scanner and Camera Wizard instructions to scan images to the computer.

For Vista:
Scanning with Paint
1)Click Start(Windows LOGO ) on your computer
2)Click All Programs.
3)Click Accessories.
4)Click Paint.
5)Click File and then click From Scanner or Camera.
6)Click Scan

Scanning with Windows Fax and Scanning
NOTE: This feature works only with Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Business, and Windows Vista Enterprise.
Click Start(Windows LOGO ) on your computer
Click All Programs.
Click Windows Fax and Scanning.
Click New Scan.
Click File and then click Scan.

Scanning with Windows Photo Gallery
Click Start(Windows LOGO ) on your computer
Click All Programs.
Click Windows Photo Gallery.
Click File and then click Import From Scanner or Camera.
Click Import.
Click Scan.
If you are unable to scan using the above methods, please proceed to the next step:

2. Check USB cable.

3. Uninstall and reinstall th All-In-One software:

Can't scan anything

To scan a document, open your HP printer ICON on the desktop screen. Then choose "scan" and either picture or document. Make sure you put your paper that you want scanned into the printer before you begin. After you choose scan and picture or document it will automatically pull the picture from the printer and bring it to your computer screen. Then you either accept or reject it. If you dont have your printer software installed go to HP's website and download the full software to run the officejet and install it. You will know if you have the software by checking to see if there is a printer ICON on your desktop.

It says "No Scan Options" when I try to scan on my HP Officejet J4580 All in One.

Please open the scanner and camera wizard and check if scanner is showing there if it is showing then”
Please click on start/all programs/accessories and click on paint”.

When it open click on file and then click on “scanner and camera wizard”, if printer detected then it will show the option after that you will get the option for scan, please click on the scan tab without do anything and once when scan get complete save the file on your computer. This is the easiest way to scan the document.

If it is not showing then insert the printer driver disk select the option add a device and add the scanner or install the scanner driver.

Scan Problem with HP Officejet 6110 All-in-one

Once try to scan from the scanners and camera wizard to check the two way communication between the computer and the all-in-one.

  1. Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.
  2. Click Start .
  3. Click Programs .
  4. Click Accessories .
  5. Click Imaging .
  6. From the Imaging application, click File , and then click Select Device .
  7. Select the HP all-in-one device from the TWAIN source list.
  8. Click File , and then Acquire Image . Imaging for Windows will scan from the all-in-one product using TWAIN software instead of the HP software.
If you are able to scan by performing the above steps then search for the file hpqscnvw.exe and try to scan from there.

If you are not able to scan even from the above steps, once refresh the USB cable and then try to scan again.

if you are able to scan from that file then try to scan from HP Director, if the issue persists then create a shortcut icon for that file and then try to scan else uninstall the software and reinstall.

Scanning to computer

I had the same problem if I use the buttons on the v40 and try to scan. I get the V40 can not connect to the PC message.

Workaround:

Go to Control Panel-->Scanners and Cameras

In there you will find: Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet V40 Scanner

Right click and select Scan. It will then start the scan wizard which will scan your document.
