I am having problems with my new computer (acer aspire L3600). It isn't performing as it did when it was first purchased. It is running vista and has just had broadband installed. About a month later, the hard drive light is continually flashing and the internet is running slowly, though the internet provider says that there is nothing wrong with it. No new programs have been installed recently. I was wondering how to restore factory settings so the computer is set up how it was when it was purchased. All files and programs are backed up ready. Also no installation disks came with the computer.

You will need to use the recovery discs that came with the computer and boot from the disc and it will give you the option to restore to factory defaults. If you dont have the discs you will need to contact Acer to get a copy.
With that desktop computer being new it should have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive that allows you to perform a factory restore which will take it to how it was when you took it out the box.
To access the recovery partition on your Acer computer for recovery, follow the steps listed below.
1. Power on the computer 2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the Alt key and press the F10 key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery. 3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click Restore to Factory Default Settings 4. Click OK to continue 5.
From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C:
drive and restore a fully functional factory image which should take approximately 10
minutes. 6. Once eRecovery has run, press OK to reboot the computer.
Try and start it in safe mode. Rebbot the computer and as soon as soon as the computer starts to boot hit F8 several times this should bring it up in safe mode. If you get the compputer up in safe mode try to restore to a different date.
what do you mean that the hard drive has been wiped out? did you reinstall a new operating system on the PC? if that so & you still want to bring back all the software & settings that came originally with this PC then you can try this.
