I bought an unlocked iphone and everything was great until i got the yellow triangle and connect to itunes message.
Everytime i try to restore it to its original settings or use an updated version,It just says waiting for iphone and nothing at all happens.
If you could give me an idiot proof guide of how to sort it out,It would be greatly appreciated

    If you get this sign

    then follow the solution below

If Itunes doesn't see your iPhone, you may need to invoke recovery
mode. Although this is an extremely helpful tool, how to use it is not
    very apparent. ?

    It's actually very simple:

Turn off your iPhone by holding the "Sleep/Wake" button for about
five seconds and then sliding the red slider. If your iPhone is already
off, there's no need to turn it on and then off again. Once it's turned
off, press and hold the "Home" button and plug the iPhone into your Mac
or PC. Keep holding the "Home" button until you see a yellow triangle
and text which says "Please Connect to iTunes". You can now release the
button. Open iTunes (if it's not already open) and you will be told
that "iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode". Click "OK" and you will be taken to the iPhone pane.
Click restore and you're done. Depending on the extent of your iPhone's
ills, it may take some time to do a full restore. Once you're done,
however, you should again have a perfectly working iPhone.

If this doesn't fix your problem, your iPhone likely needs to be serviced.

    regards

Some of the advice from the reply from Joed911 is correct. I used to work tech support for Apple Care on the iPhone, and I can tell you that there is no link in iTunes that say's "Unlock your iPhone" THESE ARE YOUR OPTIONS .............. 1) Your daughter can remember the password she set. 2) You will need to restore his iPhone using iTunes. *** Assuming # 1 is not an option I have instructions on how to restore his iPhone. Restoration of iPhone to original factory defaults will fix your problem, with the downside that all data and information stored on your phone will be lost. Normally iTunes will make a backup automatically when you connect and sync the iPhone with the program, however, it?s still a good recommendation to copy out and backup everything that you may need on the phone before proceed to restore the iPhone. To manually back up his iphone: ~Connect to itunes , on the left side of the itunes page you will see the iphone icon. ~ Right click the iphone icon ( under devices) and choose back-up from the drop down box. To restore iPhone and reset the phone to default factory settings, follow these steps: ***Easiest way to restore his iPhone: (this will work if his iphone is recognized in iTunes under devices) ~ Just left click on the iPhone icon under devices in itunes , ~ under the summary pane you will the option to restore his iphone. ~ click "RESTORE IPHONE" ~ wait for the process to finish restoration . ***** If his iPhone is not recognized in itunes under devices you will not see the iPhone icon. In this case you will need to restore with this method. 1. Turn off iPhone ? Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the red slider. Ignore this step if your iPhone is already off. 2. Press and hold down the Home button for about 10 seconds until a yellow triangle with a text which says Please Connect to iTunes appears. iPhone Recovery Mode 3. Plug the iPhone into Mac or Windows PC. Release the button if you haven?t. 4. Run and open iTunes if it?s not already opened yet. 5. iTunes will prompt a message that says iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Click OK. 6. You will be taken to the iPhone pane. Then, click on Restore. 7. Wait for the full restoration process to complete, and the iPhone will be back to the original settings. AFTER RESTORING THE IPHONE YOU CAN >>>RIGHT CLICK IPHONE AGAIN UNDER DEVICES AND CHOOSE RESTORE FROM BACK-UP TO REPLACE SOME OF HIS INFO PREVIOUSLY ON THE IPHONE. Hope this was helpful , and Good Luck !! Teresa

My daughter set a password for son's iphone 3G and she cannot remember the password, can someone advice me how to unlock the phone

Plug it into iTunes with it at the unlock screen. Somewhere it should say "Unlock your iPhone" or something like that in iTunes. Click it. Otherwise do a restore by going to the screen where it shows how much memory you have used up in iTunes and click restore.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Thanks, Joe

I brought a second hand 3 g iphone offline. When it came it was unlocked, i put it on itunes and it said that the sim was not supported, so i restored it. Now I have nothing on the phone at all ,just to...

Hi,

Follow these steps to try and get your phone running - although I cant guarantee it is unlocked, you'll have to take it up with whom you bought the phone off but if they unlocked "jail broke" it themselves and not via their network which they where locked to then it is most likely the phones software is altered with and restoring it will make no difference....

Power up your computer & itunes & make sure you have updated your itunes then power down your iphone and follow the steps below!
  1. Hold down the home button and continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button *** if this doesn't appear then release button and hold down again for around 6secs and then still holding the button plug into the computer***

    ht1808_02.jpg
  2. The above message will appear in iTunes
  3. Continue with the restore option and when you get the screen to setup the iphone select restore as new iphone
Like i said before, if who you bought the phone from unlocked it themselves then its most likely the software is affected within the phone
