Question about Epson Stylus Pro 9800 InkJet Printer

Swap black inks with Epson 9800

Is there a solution for switching black inks
(matte black or photo black) without using the Epson costly procedure ?

my printer is: Epson Stylus Pro 9800

I would like to find a way of inserting the matte black in the place of photo black, and start printing straight away, without having to do what Epson says about it, without emptying all the ink in the other cartridges in order to change the black.
I would just like to hack the chip or something...

if there is someone who knows how to avoid the Epson procedure: please help me,
thank you,
barbara.

Refilling Inkjet Cartridge
Before refilling, make sure you have cleaning wipes or napkins and plastic gloves. Fallow the steps below:

  • If you refill your cartridge in the first time - read the refill instructions (if any) that came with the refill kit, otherwise proceed to the next step.

  • To protect your hands and furniture put on gloves and place napkins on a flat surface (table) and remove the ink cartridge from the printer.

  • The refilling process would be easier if cartridge is not completely empty (a little ink left inside) and is not very dry. Do not hesitate if your cartridge has stopped working properly - refill it before it dries out.

  • On the top of the cartridge find the fill holes. The chamber can be found by running your fingers across the label, use a sharp object to pierce the refill hole that is located on the top of the ink cartridge. To level the pressure - squeeze the cartridge.

  • The instruction kit has step by step instructions on which color to insert in which slot or you can place a toothpick inside the holes to see what color is inside.

  • To refill the cartridge, insert a long needle to the refill bottle and inject the ink in the correct color slots. Make sure you inject all the ink extremely carefully and slowly to avoid foaming and air packets.

  • Make sure not to over fill the cartridges. Different ink cartridges/printers hold a different amount of ink. Check inside the instructions to see how much ink your cartridge can hold. If the ink starts to seep out slowly pull the needle and **** the extra ink back in the syringe and remove the needle.

  • Carefully pat the cartridge contacts on to a paper towel. You should be able to see spots of ink on the paper.

  • Close the refill hole with the seal dots that comes with the instruction kit (if any). You can also use a small piece of tape to cover the refill hole, it's a lot easier.

  • The ink that wasn't used put back in the bottle. Rinse all the needles and syringes with water and dry them well. You can label each color so it would be easier to refill the next time.

  • Make sure the cartridge is clean and will not leak into the printer. Dab a piece of paper towel to double check that the ink is not bleeding.

  • Once you put the cartridge back in the printer. Print a colorful picture to get the ink flowing and to make sure all the colors are working properly. After checking the quality of the photo run the cleaning cycle one to three times.

Why won't my Epson Printer XP405 print a photo on Epson Glossy Photo paper

Your printer may need you to replace the "matt black ink" with "gloss black ink".

I have a Epson pro large format 9600, I print on canvas, I have use Photo black since I have it, but never getting a saturation ressult. I have been counsil by Epson to use Matt black rather than Phot

"Photo black" is designed specifically for glossy photo paper. Matte black is for non-glossy paper, including plain paper. Matte black will print darker on non-glossy paper than photo black does.

Epson R2880 trying to change matt black to photo black

There are many solutions posted already - what I do is in photoshop i start to print - even though I cant select the paper I want because the wrong ink is recorded - and I click print preview... then click print. The epson drivers tries to print, THEN detects the NEW ink and sends me back to selecting the paper with the new ink properly sensed. I hope this helps.

Epson stylus k3 r2400

Hi Lisa
The R2400 has the choice of two black inks, MK and PK. One is for Matt printing, the other (called photo black) is for gloss.
If the printer has the matt cartridge fitted it only allows suitable options, including paper choice, to be selected. If you change the black cartridge from the MK to the PK one, you should then have the choice of gloss paper.

Printing paper choices

The paper types available in the driver are dependent on which type of black ink cartridge is loaded in the printer. If the Photo Black ink is loaded, you should have various glossy paper choices. If the Matte Black ink is loaded, you will have a choice of plain or Matte paper types. Once the cartridge is switched, you will get the corresponding paper choices.

here is ur fix
