Platter Won't Turn - Magnavox MX 1910 Turntable

The Platter won't move and I'm not sure how to get into the turntable because I don't have a service manual but I think it may have somethingto do with the drive belt. I'm also not sure on how old the turntable is.

If it's a turntable with a usb connector, those connections are usually outputs only. USB on a turntable is used to output the audio to a computer to rip albums to digital audio.

The turntable belt wasn't atached and i need th know how to put it back on.

Good day. Lift the rubber mat off the platter and notice the two rather large holes in the plater. Put your thumb and forefinger through the holes and pull the platter off the turntable unit. Place the platter upside down and notice the inner rim which holds the belt. Place the new belt around the inner rim and replace the platter onto the unit. Now, with tweesers, working through one of the large holes, pull the belt onto the spindle motor. Once on, spin the platter by hand and make sure the belt does not slip off. Hope this helps

How do you get the turntable to start turning? We just got a Philco turntable and can't find a switch to get the turntable to turn. We got it used so don't have the instruction manual.

A lot of turntables start moving when the arm is moved to the record start. The turntable should move when you move the arm to the edge of the platter, even with no record. If it doesn't, listen to see if the motor spins. Then lift up the platter matt to see if the belt has slipped off.

Turntable will not turn, power goes on. Does this system have a belt for the turntable or is there a manuel or schematics to this system?

You will need to check your belt for wear. Lift felt on platter and check belt tension. It may need replacing. To replace, simply lift platter section of the unit, taking note of the belt position. replace and your problem will be solved

Turntable will not turn. the motor is not

After removing the rubber mat, you should see a clip on the spindle that keeps the turntable on. But you will still not be able to remove the platter until you remove the unit from the cabinet. Remove the bottom cover and flip the two clips and the turntable assembly can be removed.

B&O Beogram 2000 turntable arm won't go down

Check to see if there is a cueing lever that is holding the arm in the up position.  If no cueing lever and it has worked recently then something has happened to the changer mechanism.  Open the bottom and look to see if there is an obvious problem like something stuck or broken.  You may be able to make the mechanism go through its cycle slowly by rotating the platter with your  hand so you can see where it is getting stuck.

How do I put back the belt that slipped off my turntable?

I had the same problem & came up with this solution. It is very simple.

Take the platter completly off the turntable by pulling on the nipple in the middle of the platter. If you are unsure what the platter is it is the base that the record lies on. It may take a good pull to get the platter off.

Take the belt completly out of the turntable. On the underside of the platter you will see a large circular lip. Wrap the belt around the exterior of the lip. Make sure that the belt is flat & not twisted.

Inside the turntable you will see a large round white gear. On the edge of this gear you will see a semi circle cut out of it with no teeth on it. Align this groove facing front & center of the unit. You can feel it pop into this natural position.

Take the platter & on the underside you will see a small white gear in the center. On the bottom edge of the gear you will see a square notch. This square notch needs to face the front & in center of the unit.

On the inside of the turntable there is a small white wheel on the right side near the record player arm. This is where the belt has to wrap around. This is the motor.

Take the platter & sit it on your lap with the underside facing up. Align the square notch that's on the gear so it is facing 12 o'clock. Pinch the belt at 3 o'clock and pull it a couple inches away from the lip.

Now flip the platter over & be prepared to install it in the unit.

With the belt pinched away from the unit slip the pinched portion over the the small white wheel that is the motor. Put the spindle that is in the center of the platter into the center hole of the turntable. Make sure the belt does not get twisted & that the belt is still on the outside of the lip not getting pinched or hanging off. Remember to keep the square notch that is on the the underside of the platter facing front & center. This step may take a few tries so just be patient.

Now push the center of the platter all the way down as far as it will go.

Turn on the turntable & enjoy your vinyl!
