Not sure what you mean by "too bright." Its not really a term used in scanning. Do you mean the image is "washed out", that is , the letters are not very dark and blends in with the white of the page?

If this is a Copiscan model with a few months into heavy scanning, the problem will be dirt and debris in the rear camera. Bowe Bell & Howell did not cover the entrance to the camera with a glass on the older Copiscan series, so when it gets full of dust, you get a washed out effect.

There is a service menu that will allow the technician to calibrate the camera, but it isn't open to the average customer. (A series of F1 thru F3 sequence). Also, if it is a model using a greyscale board instead of the Kofax avocet card, then there is a scsi normalization that will help. Also, take the rear lamp , with power off of course, pull it out , spin it around and place it back in.

It must be software setting. Try auto setting, else slightly darken output. You can also revers the same image and try out

I hava a canon dr-2010c scanner. but when I scan the paper through capture touch 2.0 than scanning very fine but when I scan through capture perfect 3.0 than show black page scanning.

Normally it is advisable to use only one Scanning Software. The software has various files which may overwrite the previously installed version. The later version works good.

It is also possible that the brightness/contrast settings in Captureperfect 3 is not proper. Try scanning after altering these.

Document is scanning upside down

Easiest way to confront this problem is to rotate the material being scanned.
If you find the image of the item is being inverted then simply rotate the material being scanned by 180 degrees.
Additionally most scanning software will have a ROTATE function where you can rotate the image of the scanned material, usually in 90 degree increments which can be useful for editing purposes. You may find this function under Edit or Image in your scanning software.
Good luck! William

Canon DR-5010C when settings are changed to Auto Detection for page size gets an error message stating that "Scanning parameters are incorrect." I want to be able to scan stacks of paper of various sizes....

If you are using CapturePerfect 3, select page size as Auto-detection, detect size by Image width, Deskew by roller & Image, then you will get images exactly as that of the scanned image.
If you ae using CP2, then you can select Auto-detection AND page detection. The problem with CP2 is if the image is less than that of the guide-plate, you will get black background. You can clean this through software.
If you had select B&W scanning and chosen to save file in JPG format, the scanner will report error. JPG is only for Color/ Grey scale.
With CP2, I have observed that sometimes, the changes are not retained, unless you select 'default' first and alter the parameters. This is not found in CP3.

Scanner gives poor quality scan...bulb?

I have one with the same problem. Look at the lamp. If it isn't really bright, that could be the cause. Mine is bright at one end and that is the side of the page that is good. I am not an expert so I could be wrong, but that is where to start if all else looks OK. Am looking for a cheap replacement lamp myself. But at the prices of all-in-ones, it's not worth spending much.

When i scan a letter 2 page is scanned:letter and blank page

You may be set for front & back (duplex) scanning. Change the setting for front only or simplex. This could be done with check/uncheck boxes, a drop-down menu, or a keyboard shortcut. I believe the standard Kodak settings are via check boxes.
This model is also capable of putting out color & bitonal (black&white) images simultaniously. If that's the case the pages should be separate image files. Uncheck either color or bitonal depending on which you want.

Kodak i260 Scanner

This is practically impossible. This can happen only when the file is over written! Check your software settings. May be you have selected 'multipage' option. Try scanning one page and two pages (same sheet). If the file size is different, then it means two files are scanned.

Reload your Driver and check your scanning software. I am assuming you are usning winXP/Win 2000.

Xerox 510 will not scan from ADF

If it is new, and not assuming there is a hardware problem with the scanner (some fault), might be a software problem. If the scanned image from the flabed is OK the drivers would be installed properly. You do not say which software you are using but when you have a "Professional" documentscanner and intend to use it for "production" scanning you need proper software also, To scan, to mix documents, rearrange pages, auto remove blank pages, deskew, produce small PDFs even when scanning color and so on. Look at PixEdit - it will do the job for you.
