As mentioned by others, if you are asking to have another CoA (Certificate of Authenticity) given to you, that would be outside of the Microsoft EULA for the product. If you already have a second license (that came with the computer or purchased) then you can install Windows XP Home with any key at all but in order to make it legal it has to be activated. Provided you have a legitimate CoA that isn't in use on another computer, you can change an existing installation's XP CoA using this KeyUpdateTool from Microsoft. This is particularly useful if you are using, for example, an SP1 CD to do the installation of Windows XP and have a legitimate SP2 key (you'll notice the key won't take). I run into this issue a lot in my line of business - just be sure you're using legal keys and not using the same ones twice.

If you need to purchase an additional copy of Windows XP Home, here's a place to buy genuine software legally at a good price.

Microsoft's License agreement specifically states that Windows Vista Home Premium can only be installed on a single system with a single license. To get a second key to install the OS on a second computer, you would have to purchase another license from Microsoft, either through the purchase of another disc from your local supplier, or directly from Microsoft.

To use the same code on 2 computers, as sagacious has suggested is against the License agreement from Microsoft, and considered Software Piracy. Please consider this before using his suggestion.

If you do not have a copy of the End-User License Agreement, 1 may be downloaded directly from Microsoft's website using the address http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/useterms/default.aspx and selecting your version of Windows from the drop down boxes.

And to everyone that is, in effect, encouraging the act of software piracy, please remember, that to encourage the use of pirated software, and assist someone with 'obtaining' said software makes you an Acomplise to the crime, and in federal court, you can be charged as the same.

Try Magical Jellybean Software’s Keyfinder. http://www.magicaljellybean.com/
The latest beta version (Keyfinder 2.0 Beta 2–1/2) works with all versions of Windows XP and Office and with 32–bit versions of Windows Vista. It doesn’t work with Windows Vista 64–bit versions.

I could not upgrade neither windows XP, Windows 7 of this Product Model: GT5662. Would you assits? Thanks.

Hello kelvinvu, according to the information that I gathered from this computer model, it has Windows Vista 32 bit home premium installed on it. Windows XP is an older operating system so you can't "upgrade" to it. You could however install a fresh copy (more likely completely erasing all your previous information on vista and data files) or you could upgrade to Windows 7. Since you are using "Windows Vista 32 bit home premium", you have to upgrade to "Windows 7 32 bit home premium" or better. So if you were trying to "upgrade" to Windows 7 Home Basic, it will not allow that since it considers that a downgrade in the Operating System. You should actually be able to pop in the Windows 7 Home Premium CD while vista is running and start the upgrade process pretty painlessly that way. Just access the CD and walk through the menus for upgrading Vista to Windows 7. As a reminder, you must use the 32 bit discs. If you try and use the 64 bit discs (a different operating system as far as windows is concerned) you will have to go through the same process of installing a new version of windows (not upgrade). I hope this has solved your specific problem kelvinvu, have a great day!

You may need to check to see which "service pack" you are currently on.

See below requirements:

System Software — Windows XP & Vista
  • Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition
    • 32-bit OS Installation Only
  • Windows XP Professional or Home Edition
    • With Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3

  • Not Supported:
    • Windows Vista 64-bit (any version)
    • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
    • Windows XP Media Center Edition
    • Windows 98, Me, 2000, NT, 95, 3.1, DOS

  • Not Tested:
    • Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition
    • Although Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition have not been tested or qualified by Digidesign, there are currently no known issues with Vista Home and Home Premium 32-bit operating systems and Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 compared to the supported Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition operating systems.

Windows Vista SP1
There are currently no known issues with Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista based on our initial limited testing and customer feedback. Although full qualification with all Digidesign products has not been completed, we do not recommend against updating to SP1, given the number of important overall system fixes in SP1. We do recommend that you backup your system and create a restore point before updating to SP1, should you encounter any problems after installing the update.

I accidentally damaged window vista home premium preinstalled on 0768A78(model) L3nh216(SN)note book. It asks me the window product key to bring the window up. Could you provide me the key code for this...

There could well be a sticker on the back of your laptop with the product code on for windows vista. After you have this Vista will need to be activated within 30 days of installing it.

There is a tool which microsoft has that will detect which version of Vista, (premium, basic, business). You can download the tool. Or view the information here

You have done big mistake that's why you are getting problem.

1)Regarding installation of win XP over windows vista.
You have to install first lower version and then higher version i.e. you should install first win xp and then windows vista. But vice-versa you can't do it.
So my suggestion is that format your c drive then install win XP
after installation win XP install win vista.

2) which operation system do you want to open .
You can remove it using windows tweak utility software wich is freely available on most of the website. Also you can manually edit it.
For manually do this.( i m not sure about windows vista it is available or not)
right click on my computer->click on Advanced Tab->setup and recovery framework click on settings->click on Edit button
You will see the boot.ini file. You can remove the windows XP line from that file.
