I just got a "used"/"returned" viewsonic LCD at a great price. I brought it home to find that there is no color when hooked to TV cable outlet and no sound. Color does appear on the menu functions, etc. Can you tell me if there is a setting or two gone bad or if it's terminal. I can take it back soon, but for a second TV in my house, it'll be worth a try at fixing. Thanks!

Re: No color and no sound....
Try auto programing it, if that doesn't cure it replace the main board. you may need to contact the manufacturer for the repair. if this unit was a return to stock item then you should be able to have warranty on it. waranties are from the time of purchase return to stock items are considered as new resaleable items if sold as new discounted. it is up to the retailer to deturmine if the product is resaleable and not damaged. if sold as damaged you have no warranty check the sales slip.

Hooking up the DVD player is considerably an easy task to carry out. First you have to ensure that the DVD player is meant for your country as various countries support different voltages. Next you should get a compatible RF cable UK models use a 21 pin chord while other countries use the normal jack pin to jack pin. The chord usually comprises of three cables A red, white and Yellow. Yellow goes to video out both ways while the other two colors go to audio out. DVD usually have only one yellow port behind them and the sound ports are usually labeled audion out. Hope this solution has been helpful?
The same power cord as used for your PC power supply cord.

I hope there is no problem with this TV, it has known problem with power supply and sound problems.
I am happy to help, unfortunatly your main/input board is malfunctioning, it is a problem with the processor.
I had a 32' Viewsonic on my bench last week with the same symptoms.
If the tv is new you should contact Customer Service asap, also check on the return policy of the store you bought it from.
Many times it is alot easier to return to the merchant than to ship to repair facility.
Let me know how it goes and if you need further assistance.

Did you buy the TV online? Otherwise the retailer should be able to provide an exchange on a TV only that old. If you bought it online then you are kinda stuck in that situation. Although there are great benefits to buying online, one of the major problems is handling warranty claims on merchandise. Sorry for your problems. One thing you can do to maybe give them some incentive is to speak to a manager and tell them if you do not have your television fixed and back within the next two weeks, you will contact the Better Buisness Bureau and report them.
