Question about Bose Wave Radio

1 Answer

Bose Wave Radio audio issues

I have a Wave Radio that I purchased in 1995.

When I turn on the radio, I'll get a few seconds of audio, and then it slowly fades out until there's no sound at all. If I turn the radio off for a while and then turn it back on, the same thing happens.

Any thoughts?

For folks with no CD audio and disc with flashin cd in window you must remove all power from the unit for one minute. This inclludes removing the battery from the bottom of the player. Yes there is a battery in your unit. Wait one minute, Put in new battery and plug unit in. This solved the problem for me.

I copied some music to a disk with 4 different formats but the bose radio wont play any of them.

The Bose Wave Radio doesn't have a CD player. The Bose Wave Radio/CD does.

It will only play standard music CD's with standard CD Audio on them.

The manual is available at Bose.com.

I would start to check from the audio amplifier ICs section. Most probably the Audio Amplifier IC faulty but there are many version of Bose Wave radio and therefore couple of Audio amplifier ICs have been used namely TDA 7374, TDA 7375 and more.

Bose wave radio won't turn on

Unfortunately Bose will not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively giving them a monpoly on repair of these units. Their web site, www.bose.com, offers to repair most Wave radios for $100 or to provide a $200 allowance towards purchase of a new Wave. Before you spend the big bucks on theis trouble-prone product though, you might want to check out the new HD radios -- better sound and MUCH lower prices than Bose.

Unable to connect ipod

Reset the radio (it has a processor) by just unplugging the power cord for about 30+ seconds and plugging it back in. If this doesn't solve the problem, try replacing the remote battery (CR2032- can be found almost everywhere batteries are sold) If all else fails, call Bose tech support. The cable you connected has nothing to do with this.

Bose Wave Radio/CD - Sound from only one speaker

Sounds like the audio transformer, but it's difficult to tell because Bose will not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repair of these sets.
