In your tv the image is generated by 3 small LCD screens. In your case the blue LCD is dying - some pixels from it are no longer responding to the commands of the image processor.
To fix it you must replace the blue LCD screen. This is a very delicate job that requires extensive experience - you will have to call a repairman - and it will be expensive, around $600.
These procedures are from the owners manual, go into menu and then picture quality and then:
Convergence
The Convergence feature lets you adjust the TV’s three tubes. When the TV tubes’
images are precisely aligned, they create the color images you see on the screen.
Over time, the picture can drift out of alignment (this is normal). If your picture
seems fuzzy or has a yellow tint, using Convergence could correct this
misalignment. Only one convergence is needed for all inputs, regardless of the
signal format.
Note: Make sure the TV has been on for at least 30 minutes (TV needs to
warm up for best results) before starting Auto Converge or Red/Blue
Centering.
When you select the Convergence feature, a submenu appears with three options:
Auto Converge Automatically aligns the projection lenses to self-correct
color images. You’ll see flashing squares of color dance across the screen
(this is normal).
Note: After performing auto convergence, use the Blue Centering and
Red Centering menus to fine tune convergence in the center of the
screen, if necessary.
Blue Centering Aligns the blue and green images to fine-tune the picture.
Red Centering Aligns the red and green images to fine-tune the picture.
Note: The ability to change channels is disabled when adjusting the
convergence options. The TV must be tuned to a usable signal to
converge the picture.
Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!
Hi,it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. This is how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo So basically the 3 Lcd chips that create the colors and image is going bad and thats why you get that color discoloration.Contact Hitachi or look for your light engine online.God bless you and your house!
hi verifies if you are connecting good the video cable i mean the red, the yellow, and the white, if this dont serve you, is because your tv is to old.
there is a burned-in spot on the polerizer light filter for the blue lcd. it makes sure the light is blue coming through, that's why it is black on a blue screen, and yellow when the red and green are the only light showing through. it needs to be replaced. pat # PFiLW0213CEZZ.
Sorry, but there is no cheap method of repair for this unless it is in warranty.
This TV will require replacement of the LCD Prism unit.
This Prism blocks and allows colors so that the 3 LCD images may be mixed to produce the final image you see on the screen. When this becomes damaged or defective, it leaks colors (light). This Color Leakage apears as spots on the screens.
Where you see the spots is where the specific spot on the prism that is leaking light, the specific color that is leaking also.
This parts cost alone is normally $500 to $1000 dollars but is usually replaced under warranty.
