Location of map sensor on 95 3000gt.It not on intake, plenum, or air intake. I even removed the plenum. I have the new part and the parts store says it has one. It is nowhere to be found on the engine. Its a 3.0 non turbo. MIL light gave me code for it but I cant find it anywhere on engine?

Where is the intake air sensor located xg350 Hyundai

The MAP sensor on my 2004 hyndai xg 350 is located on the top passenger side of upper plenum. It would be easiest reached from passenger side 2 10mm bolts/Phillips head and a 3 wire plug. The I at/Mass air is on driver side between air cleaner n throttle body. It's a 5 plug sensor on the black hard plastic air intake tube

If you have a mass air flow sensor in the big boot from air cleaner housing to throttle body, likely there is no map sensor.

Location of map sensor 99 intrepid 3.2L

The Intake Air Temperature/Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor is located on the left (driver's) side of the air intake plenum. I think pretty much anyone who has a license to operate a screwdriver can handle the job. It is fastened to the plenum with a single screw.

Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the screw, remove sensor, reverse procedure to install. It doesn't get any easier than that.

Labor time to complete the repair at the dealer is 0.2 hours (12 minutes).

It looks like the picture below.

Removal & Installation


  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the MAP sensor.
  3. Remove bolts from sensor.
  4. Remove sensor.


To install:

  1. Bolt sensor to intake.
  2. Attach electrical connector to sensor.
  3. Install the negative battery cable.

1995 chrysler new yorker starts fine and idles fine. When I put in gear and take off it bogs down and stalls. Could this be a fuel pressure regulator.

More likely the MAP sensor. A new sensor is $65, so I recommend you test it to see if it's bad. Test procedures are pasted below. Please let me know if it passes the tests or if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

OPERATIONThe PCM supplies 5 volts to the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. The MAP sensor converts what it reads as the amount of intake manifold pressure into a return signal. The PCM monitors the MAP sensor output voltage. As vacuum increases in the intake manifold, the MAP sensor voltage decreases proportionately. Also, as vacuum decreases, the MAP sensor voltage increases proportionately.
During engine cranking, before the engine starts running, the PCM determines atmospheric air pressure from the MAP sensor voltage. While the engine operates, the PCM determines the intake manifold pressure from the MAP sensor voltage.
Based on MAP sensor voltage and inputs from other sensors, the PCM adjusts spark advance and the air/fuel mixture.

Before testing any electrical component, inspect the wiring and connectors for damage. Also wiggle the connectors to ensure a that they are firmly engaged. When testing the sensor, use a high input impedance digital volt-ohmmeter. Insert the tester leads through the back of the connector. Do not disconnect the electrical harness.

  1. Inspect the vacuum hose connections at the sensor and throttle body. Repair or replace the hoses, if any hoses are cracking or vacuum is leaking.

For the following step, do not unplug the sensor connector-it must stay plugged in.
  1. Make sure that the sensor wiring connector is fully inserted into the sensor (loose connections can create trouble codes). Check the MAP sensor output voltage by inserting the negative lead of a voltmeter into the back of terminal 2 and the positive test leads through the back of the harness connector terminal 3 (as marked on the sensor body). Refer to the accompanying wiring illustration. With the ignition switch in the ON position and the engine OFF , the output voltage should be 4-5 volts.
  2. Start the engine and allow to idle at normal operating temperature. The output voltage should drop to 1.5-2.1 volts.
  3. Test the PCM terminal 36 (1993-95 models), and terminal 1 (1996-97 models) for the same voltage described above to verify the wire harness condition. Repair the wiring harness if the voltage is not the same.
  4. Test the MAP sensor supply voltage at the sensor connection terminal 2 and 1 with the ignition ON . The voltage should be 5 volts. Check the supply voltage at terminal 61 of the PCM. This should also be 5 volts.
  5. Using an ohmmeter, test the MAP sensor ground circuit at the sensor connection terminal 1 and at the PCM terminal 43 (1993-95 models), terminal 4 (1996-97 models). Repair the wire harness for an open circuit if infinite resistance is detected.

The MAP sensor is located in the rear of the intake manifold plenum on the 3.3L engine. On the 3.5L engine, the MAP sensor is threaded into the left side of the intake manifold plenum.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.
  3. Remove the MAP sensor mounting screws.
  4. Remove the sensor from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Install the MAP sensor into its position and secure in place with the mounting screws. Tighten the screws to 90 inch lbs. (10 Nm), then rotate it to a horizontal position.
  2. Plug the electrical connector back into the sensor. Make certain that the connector is clean and snug fitting.
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.

The 3.1L engine is equipped with upper and lower intake manifolds. The upper intake manifold is also known as the intake manifold plenum.

CAUTION The fuel system is under pressure and must be properly relieved before disconnecting the fuel lines. Failure to properly relieve the fuel system pressure can lead to personal injury and component damage.
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove top half of the air cleaner assembly and throttle body duct.
  4. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  5. Disconnect the EGR pipe from exhaust manifold.
  6. Remove the serpentine belt.
  7. Remove the brake vacuum pipe at the intake plenum.
  8. Disconnect the control cables from the throttle body and intake plenum mounting bracket.
  9. Remove the power steering lines at the alternator bracket.
  10. Remove the alternator.
  11. Label and disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs and wire retainers on the intake plenum.
  12. Remove the ignition assembly and the EVAP canister purge solenoid together.

  1. Disconnect the upper engine wiring harness connectors at the following components:
    Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Idle Air Control (IAC) Fuel Injectors Coolant temperature sensor Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor
  2. Tag and disconnect the vacuum lines from the following components:
    Vacuum modulator Fuel pressure regulator PCV valve
  3. Disconnect the MAP sensor from upper intake manifold.
  4. Remove the upper intake plenum mounting bolts and lift off the plenum.
  5. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel rail and bracket.
  6. Install engine support fixture special tool J 28467-A or an equivalent.
  7. Remove the right side engine mount.
  8. Remove the power steering mounting bolts and support the pump out of the way without disconnecting the power steering lines.
  9. Disconnect the coolant inlet pipe from the outlet housing.
  10. Remove the coolant bypass hose from the water pump and the cylinder head.
  11. Disconnect the upper radiator hose at thermostat housing.
  12. Remove the thermostat housing.
  13. Remove both rocker arm covers.
  14. Remove the lower intake manifold bolts. Make sure the washers on the four center bolts are installed in their original locations.
When removing the valve train components they should be kept in order for installation the original locations.
  1. Remove the rocker arm retaining nuts or bolts and extract the rocker arms and pushrods.
  2. Remove the intake manifold from the engine. Remove and discard the gasket.
  3. Using a suitable scraper, clean gasket material from all mating surfaces. Remove all excess RTV sealant from front and rear ridges of cylinder block
To install:
  1. Place a 0.12 inch (3mm) bead of RTV, on each ridge, where the front and rear of the intake manifold contact the block.
  2. Using a new gasket, place the intake manifold on the engine.
  3. Install the pushrods in their original locations. Coat the pushrods with prelube.
The intake pushrods are marked yellow (5 3 /4 inch long) and the exhaust are green (6 inches long). Make sure the pushrods are properly seated in the valve lifters and rocker arms.
  1. Position the rocker arms in there original locations and tighten to specifications. Refer to the procedure earlier in this section.
  2. Install lower the intake manifold attaching bolts. Apply sealant 12345739 (or equivalent thread locking compound) to the threads of bolts. Tighten the vertical bolts first then the diagonal bolts to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).
  3. Install the front rocker arm cover.
  4. Install the thermostat housing.
  5. Connect the upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing.
  6. Fasten the coolant inlet pipe to thermostat housing.
  7. Connect coolant bypass pipe at the water pump and cylinder head.
  8. Install the power steering pump in the mounting bracket.
  9. Loosely install the serpentine belt.
  10. Connect the right side engine mount.
  11. Remove the special engine support tool.
  12. Fasten the fuel lines to fuel rail and bracket.
  13. Install the upper intake manifold and tighten the mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  14. Install the MAP sensor.
  15. Connect the upper engine wiring harness connectors to the related components removed earlier.
  16. Connect the vacuum lines to the PCV, vacuum modulator and fuel pressure regulator.
  17. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid and ignition assembly.
  18. Install the alternator assembly.
  19. Connect the power steering line to the alternator bracket.
  20. Install the serpentine belt.
  21. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs and intake plenum wire retainer.
  22. Install the EGR pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  23. Attach the control cables to the throttle body lever and upper intake plenum mounting bracket.
  24. Install air intake assembly and top half of the air cleaner assembly.
  25. Install the brake vacuum pipe.
  26. Fill the cooling system.
  27. Connect the negative battery cable, then start the vehicle and verify that there are no leaks.

Location of IAT sensor in the car?

For Hyundai Car 1999-05 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Location (check several options):

1.- The IAT sensor is located against the firewall to the left side of the engine. It is combined with the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor.

2.- This sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. On some vehicles this sensor is combined with the MAP/MAF sensor.

3.- The IAT sensor is located in the air plenum assembly. On some vehicles it is combined with the MAF sensor.

4.- This sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. On some vehicles this sensor is combined with the MAP/MAF sensor.

5.- This sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. It is combined with the Manifold Absolute Pressure (AFS) sensor.

6.- This sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. It is combined with the Manifold Absolute Pressure (AFS) sensor.

I have a 2002 chrysler 300m problem code p0073 aimbient air sensor , i bought the sensor but i dont know where it is located

Hi,
On2.7L models, the IAT sensor is located on the left side (driver) of the Intake Manifold plenum, if you are standing in front of the car, it is the sensor right before the two vacumm hoses plugged into the Intake Manifold.

On 3.2L/3.5L models, the IAT sensor is incorporated whthin the Map sensor which is also located on the left side (driver) of the upper Intake Manifold plenum. Right by the coolant reservoir tank.

My 16 yr old boy's first car - 1991 honda accord -truns over but

If i were you, I would check the throttle position sensor (or in your case the map sensor.) It is located on the throttle body. Usually with honda motors, it's always something to do with a sensor that wont let it start. If you dont have any grinding or tapping when cranking, or any problematic signs on your last road trip, then I would rule out any major mechanical defects. Depending on what type of motor you have, you may have variable timing... which may rule out the timing chain problem.

Anyways, to find your MAP sensor, follow your intake tubing up to the intake plenum. You will see where the plastic tubing (from the air filter box) meets the metal plenum. You will see the throttle body with a half of wheel looking thing, and it has the throttle cable attached to it. There should be a little black box on the back side of it (or the top depending on motor.) It has a wire harness attached to it. Remove the harness, and remove the 4 screws that hold it in place. When you remove it, take it to an autozone or parts store to be tested. Or you can just buy a new MAP sensor, replace it, and see if that is the problem. (A junkyard may be a great hit-or-miss solotion to getting a new one for cheap.) If that does'nt solve your problem, then try looking down by the air cleaner box. Look again at the tubing comming out the back and leading up to the plenum. Your car may be epuipped with a Mass Airflow sensor as well as a MAP. Basically, this just tells the motor that there is air going into the motor. It acts the same as your MAP sensor, but the location is different and tells the computer how much air is going in, and how much fuel it needs to inject into the motor to create the correct mix. If either of those sensors are bad, you will smell alot of gas when you try to crank it over. It wont fire because the vehicles computer is thinking that there is a clog or restriction in the air, and wont ignite the fuel because of improper mixture.
