Does it only do it when you are on line? If so it could be that your browser is low on resources due to pop ups, ads, etc. Google ad block for your specific browser to block out the garbage and free up your browser. Does wonders.

if your videocard is ATI do this:

click start - run
type services.msc
at the services is a service name called ati hotkey .....
right click on it - properties, set it manually mode, and click to stop the service
