After downloading the new update, my controller won't work. I pressed the PS button as requested, but it still doesn't work.

Have you charged it? If you have plugged it in and no lights blink you may have a defective controller. If so check with Sony support/

ps,, DO NOT use this grill again until you have it repaired correctly.

PS3's will sometimes loose their connection to the controllers. I have always fixed this problem with these steps:

1. Make sure the system is off (red light)
2. plug the control in with the usb cable
3. press the PS button in the middle of the controller (this will let the console relearn the controller)
4. once the lights on the front of the controller are not blinking red anymore, and have a single green light indicating which player the controller has taken, hold the PS button and turn off the system
5. once the system is off, unplug the usb cable
6. the controller should work without the cable now. (check by pressing the PS button to turn the system back on

Controllers will lose their connection to the PS3 when they die completely, during updates, power outages, etc. I don't know what exactly causes it, but I have had to do this process several times since I got my PS3.

The guide button won't work until its synced,you need to push the button on the console to look for controllers then the button on the controller and it will sync it and then it should work fine. If that doesn't work then try hitting the button on the controller first then the one on the console.

Of course make sure you press the "PS" button.

I that doesn't work check the bottom of the controller. There is a reset hole / button. Hold it down lightly with a paperclip for 10 seconds, plug the wire back in and press the PS button.

Hopefully that's all it takes.

I've got exactly the same problem i'm running 3.10 on my PS3 and have tried restoring the system doing a full format of the drive you name it. nothing works. The update 3.15 downloads fine but it gets to 21% of the install and brings up this 8002F147 error. I can't play any Blue Ray films on it or go on the web as all it wants to do is run this update which it can't. Additionally I also can't turn on via
the PS button. It's a 80GB one that i've just brought off ebay.

Ps. I called Playstation support at the weekend and they advised that I take it around my friends and try running the update which made no differnce which I thought it wouldn't as i've tried it via flash etc which downloads fine it's an install problem......

You have to manually sync the instruments. While playing press the PS button go to settings, accesory settings and assign each controller individually a number from 1-4.

From the home menu, select (Settings) > (System Update), and then press the (X)button.

Select [Update via Internet], and then press the (X)button.
The system automatically searches for and finds the latest version of the update data.

Download the update data.

If a new version of the system software is found, an update is necessary. Press the (X)button to start downloading the update data.Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the update.

Confirm that the update was successful.After the update has been completed, go to (Settings) > (System Settings) > [System Information]. If the [System Software]field displays the version number of the update, the update wassuccessful.
WARNING:

• Do not turn off the PS3™ system during an update. If anupdate is cancelled before completion, the system software may becomedamaged, and the system may require servicing or exchange.
• During an update, the power button on the system front and PS button of the controller are inactive.

try holding the power button down for 5 sec with the ps3 on this will put the ps3 back to default setting ....

Just remove the bateries, press number 2 and keep it pressed until you place the batteries again! worked for me and its seems to work with other users!
