Question about Brother CS-8150 Computerized Sewing Machine
I have a Brother CS 8150 computerized sewing machine and can't get the bobbin to wind! It was working fine, then suddenly, the machine thinks it's winding but it just makes a whirring sound and doesn't engage the bobbin winding mechanism. Can I get inside the machine to get this to "grab"??? This is really dumb because I just want to sew a straight line! Thanks, Lani Reinhart
Bobbin will not lock on bobbin spindle, what can I do?

Same thing happened to me so my dad and I took the bolts out of the back of the machine and pried it apart to see that the bobbin winder tire was melted and not able to engage. Not sure how it melted like that but we had to take the whole thing apart to get it out and replace it. Cheap part but a pain to replace. Good luck and if you find an easier way to replace let me know!

Your winder needs a new "tire." It's a pain to get inside these new electronic machines, but with a little ingenuity & determination it can be done. But first, go here: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/ Order a new bobbin winder tire for your model of machine, then -- good luck figuring out how to install it :)

SOURCE: Can't wind the bobbin
Well we finally downloaded a service manual that cost a few bucks, then finished getting the machine apart, then found a small rubber O-ring that had obviously gotten hot when spinning after the tangling of the thread on the bobbin stem. You could see where the heat had melted tiny teeth marks in the ring and it was stretched out of shape. It and yours too will need to be replaced.
If you or someone you know is mechanically inclined, you will need to take five screws out of the back including a hard to find one under the foot raising lever (lower the foot), then one form the front that is under the thread cartridge, and you will have to remove the bobbin winding plate cover which is held by one small screw, and then remove a small screw from the support bar.

Tips for a great answer:
Problem with Brother CS-8150 Computerized Sewing Machine
bottom thread from theh bobbin is in big loops.
I have a CS-8150 as well -it was fine until I decided to clean the shuttlecock and I thought I had put it back correctly. However, it was after replacing the shuttlecock in place that my bobbin thread was making big loops and no matter what tension it kept doing it. So I removed everything out of the bobbin area. Cleaned and made sure that the shuttlecock was exactly in place as per the manual. Guess what it does not make big loops any more.
Just a suggestion.
