My PC wont upload after it has turned on, there is a note to press F1 to continue,F2 for set up, I have done everything but it goes back'n forth

Enter the BIOS configuration, pressing F2, F10, F1 or DEL at boot. At the BIOS screen, go through the pages, there will be an option to set everything to optimized defaults, save and reboot.

For your problem the computer may display a prompt to press F1/F2 or any other key to enter setup each time the computer boots as a reminder on how to enter CMOS. However, if the computer asks to press F1/F2 (or another key) to enter setup and does not continue, this may be caused by any of the below reasons.

1. New hardware has been recently installed.
2. Error or confliction with settings in CMOS.
3. CMOS battery is bad or failing.

Solution:

New hardware has been recently installed

If new hardware has been recently installed into the computer, it is likely that you are receiving the prompt "Press F1 or F2 to enter setup" because CMOS needs to verify that the new detected hardware is properly being setup in CMOS. Enter CMOS setup and save the settings and exit. If you continue to get errors continue to the next step.

Error or confliction with settings in CMOS

If no new hardware has been added or you continue to get this prompt verify no error or conflictions exist in CMOS. Press the key to enter setup and verify that all settings are correct.

If your time and date are not set correctly, your battery is more than likely bad. Try setting the correct time and date, save the settings and then reboot. If after turning off the computer the time and date get reset again replace the battery.

If the time and date are correct and everything else appears to be correct try resetting the CMOS values to the defaults.

CMOS battery is bad or failing

If you continue to receive the prompt to enter setup each time the computer boots up and you have attempted to follow the above suggestions, your CMOS battery is bad. We recommended that the CMOS battery be replaced.

It's very Easy.. remove ram cover near the ram u can see small jumper short the jumper for 15 second with flat screw driver.. if same ..do again but keep short jumper and turn on laptop for 15 second .... Thanks if okie give me vote

it may be a problem of hard drives jumper settings and the CMOS/BIOS setting conflicts!!
first try to go to setup on pressing F2 and load optimal values and restart!!
if this does not help then open the CPU and see the hard drives jumper settings and make it to chip select(CS), and restart!
this mainly will be the problems!

Ok this means that somebody has set a bios password on your computer, But we can fix this for you. I will try and explain this for you.

"The reason the computer is asking you to press F1 is because some settings in the Bios are not correct, such as memory size is incorrect or processor speed is not right, So what you need to do is un-plug the computer and once it is unplugged take open up the computer by removing the case or side to have access to the motherboard, once you see the motherboard locate the battery backup which will be similar to the picture below. Once you locate the battery, take it out, Now with the battery out press and hold the power button in for about 3-5 seconds to discharge the remaining power from the system. Once you have done this re-insert the battery and put the computer case back on and plug it back in and press the power button. You will then be prompted with the Press F1 to continue screen since we reset everything now, so you will want to press F2 to enter your bios in which should not have a password now, Once you are in the bios screen which should be a blue screen, look for the option to set to default usually its like F12 or some key like that but not sure on your system. Once you restore to default make sure to save changes and restart the computer and you should be all set and not have the F1 to continue screen any longer. I hope this helps.

Press F2 to enter the Bios, on the first screen navigate to the floppy A: drive select disable and the error should go away.

From the sounds of it your Floppy drive is damaged or just bad. you can take it for repair or purchase a new one fairly cheap and replace it yourself. But just disabling it should do the trick since floppy's are pretty much obsolete.

the recovery Disk wont help you unless its an error you get in windows itself btw.. (unless its a OS start problem which this doesn't seem to be)

First you need to take the cover off your laptop and locate the cmos battery which looks like an oversize battery watch. With everything unplugged it just pulls out, note which side of the battery goes however. Place the new one in put everything back together and power the computer up. When it powers up it will finally get to the screen that says press "F1" for setup or "F2" to continue. Press F1 and you will get to your set up screen. You can go through each screen and select F5 which is the default factory settings or scoll across the top to the last screen which will give you the option of resetting all the settings to factory default with just pressing one of the F keys once only. Once you do that, just shutdown your computer and restart and it will start as normal. It may go through the F1 and F2 screen one more time but just press F2 and continue. After you log off the next time all your changes should be good. Let me know if I can help you in any other way.

First off, you've done a lot of work for nothing. What you need to do is put back the new memory. When the Dell Bios boots, it confirming that it has detected the new memory. What you need to do is hit the F1 key to reboot and continue on to the XP installation. When you open the case, it will say the same thing. Don't worry about it, it's only confirming that the case was opened. Typically, I shut off the case intrusion detection, only because I'm always adding things to the machines and it's just a extra step I have to take to boot. However, it's good to know that your bios is confirming that you've opened the case, and that you've put in new memory. You want to make sure that the setup recongizes the entire memory in the banks. So, go to the system information page and make sure that it's reading the original and the additional memory 256k you added. Otherwise your done.

From the Bios, load all the default settings and then check the bios SATA port settings. If it is set to AHCI, change it to IDE to boot from Hard Drive. This should solve the problem
