GE Profile range oven door

The range oven glass door fell off. The door doesn't stay open. The glass door was glued on at the bottom and with heavy foil torn off??

Any suggestion?

I found the metal track at the bottom, it is not used to hold up the door. The door is glued onto the outside of the track like caulk.

I tried to attached a picture here but it did not take 2.9MB. Do you have a email address?

Foil was just protective heat tape, there is a track across the bottom of door that is holding it up,

The front glass of the oven door fell off, didn't break....but, how do I put it back on? Was it just glued?

Hello. Notice in pic 2 of the exploded diagram of the door, part 359 which is the bottom door trim, part# WB07K0379. I believe this holds the glass in the door if I'm thinking of the right model oven. The glass door steel cover (designation 314) is WB57K10049. I'm not sure if your glass panel was glued to the steel cover--that's why I gave the part number for it--just in case it can't be repaired. If you need more info or part numbers, leave a comment and I'll be glad to help you further!

Our GE profile oven model JGsp31wet1ww oven will not heat up. When i set the oven to say 400 degrees, it just stays at 100 and never heats up. The broiler seems to work fine and the stove top gas burners...

pull out the racks and remove the bottom floor of the oven, turn it on bake,if the ignitor doesn't glow most likely it's bad,if it does glow and it doesn't ignite within 40 to 60 seconds the ignitor is bad.even though it glows doesn't mean it's good,it works by amps.it takes 3.2 amps.for a flat ignitor to open the gas valve and 2.5 amps for a round ignitor to open the gas valve.

WHILE MAKING HOT CHOCOLATE THE OTHER DAY, THE MILK BOILED OVER AND SOME OF THE MILK WENT THREW THE SLITS AT THE TOP OF THE OVEN DOOR BETWEEN THE TWO GLASSES IN THE DOOR. IS THERE ANY WAY TO OPEN UP THE...

First, you will need a heavy blanket to place the door on once you have removed it from the oven. Open the door slightly, until it stays open by itself, about 15 degrees. Lift the oven door off of the hinges and place on the heavy blanket. (The hinges may snap shut when you pull the door up and off, but this is actually normal. It takes a bit of finesse to get the door back on the hinges if they will not stay out.)

Remove the 4 screws across the bottom of the door. Next, stand the door up with the bottom on the blanket and the front facing you.(Hold the door by gripping firmly around the middle edges to maneuver door)

Now, while holding the handle, remove the 2 screws that hold the handle on, unscrewing them just enough until the handle is free. (You do not want the spacers dropping off the screws) Hold the door together with one hand while placing the handle out of your way.

Once again, grab the door firmly by the middle outer edges and lie the door down, the inside facing down. You should be able to lift up the outer panel and glass and clean the inside of the outer glass.

Reverse the above procedure to reassembly the door. You can also take the door apart further if you have stains inside the other glasses. Here is a link to a schematic for your oven door.

Range door insulation strip

this white/silver strip I presume is the seperator between the inner and outer glass ? if so, you shouldreplace it and is so, use a little silicne caulk to keep it in place. it is tricky job to open the door inner and outer panels; you may want the hands of a second person. he strip keeps dirt from covering the inside of the glass panels and smoke film from bulding on the glass otherwise you will never see thru it. How do you change the oven bulb in a GE Profile Convection oven?

Unplug or flip breaker to the range. Remove wire around glass bulb protector by sliding one side out of clip while holding onto glass protector so it doesn't fall into the oven and break. Unscrew old bulb, replace with new one. Hold glass bulb protector over the bulb and hook wire back into its clip. Voila! Back in business. (I didn't unplug it, but discovered that you can't turn off the bulb, so it shines in your eyes while the oven door is open. Also, very stupid thing to do, since the bulb could very easily have broken in my very clumsy hand and given me a bad shock. So do it right, and unplug!)

Exploding Door

the old exploding door ploy...
01:00 hrs while sipping on a very fine IPA watch a bit of tellie the sound of glass shattering startles me from the kitchen. preparing to find the daughter's cat, still in the house after evaded bed time radar, on the counter. instead the front glass on the our GE Profile gas range, model JGB908SEK1SS, is slowly spider webbing into pieces. i grabbed the video camera and captured the event. GE sent out a repair guy to quote me a whopping $304.27 to replace their faulty part. foot note here...the range is four yrs old and hadn't been used in more than 24 hrs prior to the glass on the door shattering. i don't believe the glass had a "fracture to it in the production cycle at the factory". being a DIY guy the service tech ordered the replacement part for me. i just received the replacement glass from GE and it's white which would be OK if we hadn't ordered it in stainless steal. did i mention it's taken 2 months to get the replacement glass. i've attached a photo of the cleaned door awaiting installation. i really wish it had been the cat...77f7f82.jpg
