We use the powder type detergent in our 2 year old Kenmore dishwasher. VERY frequently (perhaps one third of the time) we find that, after running the washer cycle, the recepticle (for the powder) is clogged with the damp detergent that is caked up, even tho' the recepticle 'door' itself is open after the cycle has run.. We have tried reducing the amount of powder (which seems to help occasionally). Is there a better fix for this problem?

We use the tabs but the door doesn't open at all. We have to put our dishes through the wash 2 or 3 times before the dang thing releases the detergent. Any suggestions other than try a different detergent?

Kenmore front load washing machine leaking water from under the the detergent dispenser

You could have a clog in the housing underneath the dispenser where the water flows through a hose into the tub. Pull the dispenser drawer completely out. There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer and remove it. Check the opening at the bottom of the housing just inside the dispenser housing opening to see if a small sock or garment is clogging this opening. Reach down into this opening to see if an item is inside the hose. This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.

Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Replace the dispenser drawer and try the washer again. If the dispenser still leaks, then I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and fix this problem.

Soap dispenser does not open every time

the spring that tensions the lid is broken or otherwise not working. I would look at the hinge side of the dispenser and see if spring is still intact. When you release the lid, it should snap open without much difficulty so if it doesn't do that, then I would suspect the spring.

The cover of detergent dispenser does not open..

It is most likely the flip spring...you need to be certain that the legs of the spring are inside the door edge and the spring does not swing freely...and there must be tension on the spring so that when the latch releases the door flips...you can also try this with an elastic, put the elastic inside the closed door and up around the drying solution knob, this will let the door flip open showing that the latch does work
