I recently bought this monitor from a friend and he said that it worked. I just plugged it in and i have power but when I plug the vga cord into the computer the green light turns on, but no picture.

The Graphics card is fine because i tested it on a different monitor. The vga cord is connected to the monitor itself, i do have an extra one but is it possible to replace?

  • Anonymous Apr 15, 2010

It is connected to the monitor but I don't have much experience with a soldering iron or same monitor... any other options?

  • Anonymous Apr 15, 2010

Could be the Graphics card is out, or the VGA cord is damaged and isnt giving video but is giving some sort of signal to engage the monitor.

is it detachable from the monitor if not, then no unless you have another monitor of the same make and model, and a soldering gun

Contact the Manufacturer to check to see if it has any kind of warranty that you can use to get the item replaced. or purchase a new monitor.

Monitor flashes logo and then turns black.with red lights on

Here's some tricks I would try. Something here, might help...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your monitor on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.
Good luck.

Flashing power button on Samsung SyncMaster 920NW

Yes, More than likely the problem with the unit is blown capacitors on the power supply board, the flashing power light is a good indicator of this type of failure. Here is a link to a repair guide with pictures and videos showing how to open the unit and what to look for and replace to get it back going again.
