Question about Epson LQ-2180 Dot Matrix Printer
Hi! i've been using epson lq2180 since last year and since i switched to my latest dell inspiron computer, i have to use the "USB to Parallel" adaptor to connect both printer and pc. the problem was the computer cannot detect the printer and sometimes when it detects (hurrah!!) still i cannot print from my dbase3 program which is a DOS-based program. do i hv to buy software program?should i buy an expansion card (PCI card) that built-in with parallel port? if there is any program that i can use kindly help me...thanksss!!
If you have the Cables2GO USB to Parallel converter, it is a pain to get working. Go to Radio Shack and buy the GigaWire USB to Parallel.
Then once plugged in, go the printer that will be using the converter. Go to the printer properties, select the PORTS tab. Select the 'VIRTUAL PRINTER PORT FOR USB'. That worked for me!

use the com1, and use a baud rate like 9600, with 8 and 1 bit stop. dont. be sure that is in ESC/P or IBM as you requiered. if your software use directly the serial port, be sure that the bios set up is properly. i think that the lx300+ have less buffer than lx300+2
and if you use high speed, could loose info.

if u use up tractor use down tractor or inverse the operation
coz your problem is in paper sensor in up or down printing

Are you trying to connect your printer to a PC using the USB port?
If so, it would be far better to purchase a USB to Parallel port cable.
The data passing over the USB cable will have to converted from a serial format to a parallel format before the printed can store the data,
Next, the converted has to add the required control signals in order for the printer to read and latch the data.
