It's probably just the power cord. I had the same problem, I bought a replacement power cord from ebay and everything works fine now.
Once you get the pin repaired be sure and use some sort of cable stay or restraint so it doesn't happen again. . .
Here's something I recommend. . .
Take a pen or small screwdriver and try and move the charging pin on the laptop. It is very common that the pin itself becomes loose. It should be nice and tight with no play. If tapping it with a pen causes any kind of loose movement, it means that your pin has lost it's connection inside. If this is the case you will need to have it serviced. Hopefully there is still warranty on the unit. If not you will probably be looking at about $200 to get it fixed as the entire laptop would need to be taken apart and the pin resoldiered or replaced.
Let me know if this helped.
It could be the cord, if it is frequently bent right at the connector
the wires inside can be broken. You can obtain a replacement plug that
can be soldered onto the wires from RadioShack. you'll need to cut the
old plug off, about an inch from the connector to make sure you
eliminate the bad part of the wire. You must be sure to get the
polarity of the plug correct or you can damage the PC or the battery.
The power pack may have a diagram with the polarity.
It could also be the power jack on the PC itself. With frequent use the
jack solder joints could have cracked and are no longer making a
connection. They can be re-soldered to correct the problem, but it is a
tedious task to take it apart to get to it.
If you have a MultiMeter, Analog or Digital (DMM) you can use it to
test the power pack for output, as well as use it to determine the
polarity. With the meter connected you can bend the wire to see if it
breaks the power connection, if it does you just need to replace the
plug.
Hope this helps :)
Check your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs
into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the
jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to
take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the
motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.
