Question about Saitek ST290 Joystick

1 Answer

XP Pro doesn't recognize the ST290

I've plugged it into every USB port and nothing happens, try to add new hardware and still nothing. Downloaded drivers still won't recognize it. Tried another PC and nothing so I guess I may have a faulty joystick.

Microsoft Combat Simulator Doesn't work with joy stick satik 290 pro. nothing works. it worked on xp. doesn't work on vista home.

You need the drivers from Saitek.com.

After selecting download > software, use the "Choose your Product Type) box. Select Joystick and you will find yours listed.

You need to know if you're using Vista or Vista64.

Install them, then plug your stick in. Should then work.

MOMO Racing wheel recognized as "Unkown USB Device"

Hi, Please uninstall any LGS version present on your OS - Then please proceed to clean boot. ( http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=228 ) -> Unplug all the USB devices connected to the computer ( Less keyboard + mouse ) please use corded kbd+mouse if possible rather than a cordless device. -> Go to device manager -> Delete all the USB HOST CONTROLLER -- All of them -- -> The host controller might reinstall them itslef, let the computer handle the reinstallation -> If the computer does not reinstall the host controllers, trigger the detection using the DM function " Scan for new hardware " ( The computer with magnifier icon ) -> Once reinstalled, clean boot -> Reinstall the software, plug the hardware when needed. -> Should work.
This TB delete the usb ports " memory " means if a device as been previously flagged with error, it will redetect the device without the flag, unless there is some serious issue with the hardware/OS
Thanks and have a nice day !

I have encountered a similar issue before. What works, is to try the update of your chipset's driver. This could be an error once present in your chipset's initial release, but has since then been fixed by your chipset's manufacturer. Also this could another among the millions of peculiarities in the windows operating system, i say this for it is very possible the the controller will function well if a game is started while the controller is already plugged in. Just see if it works, but an amendment to the chipset's instruction set would be optimal.

Need a port for my MS force feedback pro

Just get yourself a new soundcard with a gameport on board. Disable your MoBO soundcard if you have one and instal the new one. Creative is probably the safest option. Update the drivers and off you go. Don't forget to add the joystick, the drivers are supplied in XP.

Trigger button on Saitek ST290 is stuck in fire position

I've disassembled the ST290 to get at it's internals. It wasn't easy. It's not something I would recommend and finding the exact same lever switch to replace the damaged one would be tricky, not to mention soldering in the new switch and all.
I have seen the ST290 at Radio Shack stores for less than $20. You might be less frustrated just getting a new one.
