Have an IC7-G running XP Pro. Only problem is I can't connect to NW5
server. Installed drivers from abit cdrom for Intel and all seems to
have gone correctly (?). Cat 5 cable connected to 10/100 switch which
shows it has a connection.
From Control panel/networks, it shows a modem connection and under Lan
it shows 2 1394 connections. I can't seem to locate the Intel
connection. When I open the Intel Pro Connections icon from Control
panel, it doesn't show anything there, I tryed reinstalling the driver
but got the same results. Even tryed to ping 127.0.0.0.
I tried a find new hardware and it didn't find the Intel stuff at
all.
Any ideas where to go from here?????
Thanks

Wow, thanks for all kicking in on this. Tom, I have tried removing the
firewire, checked the bios to make sure 'lan on board' is enabled,
Rebooted and got only the firewire reinstalled. only periferals are
the pic vedio and Creative sound. Sys is running Win XP Pro w/ a 3gb
processor, 1 gb mem and to Sata drives.
Would I be better off just geytting a PCI 10/100/1000 NIC???
I also checked support from where I bought the board, and they
suggested to RMA the board as they thought RJ45 bad.
IF I do rma the board, how do I get the new one to recognize the SATA
Raid 1 drives???
I understand that if it is RMA'd, I get a 90 day warrenty back
Thanks
Stephen

This board has one Firewire controller and if he has an Audigy installed
(for example) then there will be a Firewire controller on that card as well.
Just a thought...

adapters. you either do not have it enabled in the bios or there is a
device that does not have a driver installed that is showing in device
manager.
one thing to be aware of is that in my experience, the bios menu options for
some devices, including specifically the onboard NIC, can disappear from the
bios settings screens. clearing the CMOS with the jumper appears to correct
this problem.

I was under the impression from the MB book that I should see Intel
P?ro 1000 CT. If I click on the card icon in the toolbar, it only
shows an empty folder named Network. I thought the 2 instances of the
1394 was for firewire not ethernet.

adapters if you have the one on the board enabled and if you have one on a
add in board such as an audigy card etc. As an aside, you have made sure
it's enabled in the bios haven't you? If so then yes, I would uninstall the
2 instances of 1394 you have listed and reboot and see what happens.

difference??

and doing a reboot, the Intel should show up as "Intel(R)PRO/1000 CT Network
Connection"
