sorry to tale you, but my opinion SONY just SUCKS... as you can tell. Might wanna upgrade your amp. I have had no luck with sony. Try audiobahn, mmat, ppi, mcintosh, zappco, orion, rockford. THESE are a lot better amp to go with by far. But thier is a lot better brands out thier that just knocks sony in the dirt. my favorite happens to be the audiobahn A2300HCX aka cheater amp. NICE AMPS. it also depends on what kind of subs you got to
installed my Audiobahn A2300HCX amp to my kenwood head unit. Just got this amp off ebay, ran all my wires for my amp. Finally it was time to hear it BUMP, but nothing... As i calmed down form woundering bout if i got ripped off on ebay, i recheck all my wires, reground the wire to an other spot, check my fuse on amp, and inline fuse from power wire off battery, AGAIN NOTHING.......... FINALLY had an idea bout jumping a wire from the power terminal (off the amp) to the remote terminal (off the amp), AND BOOOOM my amp kicked on... TURNS out it was my remote wire off the head unit off the harness was bad never hooked up an amp to it before. BUT dont leave it that way the amp will stay on all the time i only did it to see if it works. THANK GOD IT WASNT THE AMP
My brother just bought an A2300HCX and almost the same thing happen. 1 of the gauges (left side) was no movement. We tryed hooking the amp to the right side, and it works. The Left side turns out was shot, had to get it fixed. So sorry to tell you but sounds like one of the channels has internal damage. I know this isn't the good new you were wanting to hear, but hope it was helpful
First thing is first. What subs do you have? Audiobahn makes several kinds of 12" subs. What model sub do you have?
Without knowing this, it would be hard to recomend an amp without knowing how much power your sub can handle. Audiobahn makes from very power amps that can put out up to 5000W RMS, but if your sub can not handle that power, then you will blow your sub.
try just hooking up a power wire and ground wire only. disconnect your subs from your amp along with the remote wire and RCA's. if you have some jumper wires or run a wire from the power terminal to the remote wire. YOUR amp should come on, if it still stay's in protection mode it might be shot... hope this was helpful, i couldn get my a2300hcx to come on and tryed this and it came on turns out it was my remote wire was bad of the head unit...
