Not really sure as far a swhatconstitutes ruining along time, you are doing the right thing by keeping it clean for sure, refrigs now run for as long as they need if it never stopped running youd see hte effects of that in 2 ways, either all your food would be FROZEN solid( cause it never shuts off), or your food would be spoiling quicker hat n usual, in which case your refrig is trying to run all the time to maintain temps! the noise that you hear running might just be the evap fan motor running( circulater fan, sure its gonna run to circulate, but the compressor wont be running all the time.. check and go by your dairy products, ice cream too hard or too soft, and in refrig check the milk and butter.youll never know how cold you leftover is but youll know right away if the milk it too warm

Check for loose connections in the compressor and the plug or socket. Your thermostat may also be at fault. It might be erratic now. Some ice developing on the thermostat may also cause this.

How to make me ge 29.8cu.ft. be more energy efficent. it is a older model.it is a profile tfh30pr. it seems it runs a lot.

If your fridge seems to be running a lot more than normal, it is likely because the heat dissipation coils are clogged with dust. Most likely they are located on the bottom of fridge.
There should be a removable kick plate under the door. Often just snaps in.
Remove kick plate and use a vacuum hose to vac out the dust bunnies.
At your local hardware store you should be able to buy cheaply a long skinny brush to reach between coils and clean out.
You should pull the whole fridge out and get it from back also.
This will increase the efficiency on your fridge.
If you notice no change at all, or if you've done this already, it's possible the fridge has a problem.

I have a bottom freezer model that also freezes on top! I've cleaned the coils underneath (and it was pretty bad), and that seemed to work for about a week, but now the unit seems to run alot even though...

cleaning the coils is always a good idea, that's how the unit disipates the heat it pumps from the inside of the box. clean coils make it work more efficiently. Frosty suggests a door gasket leak, allowing fresh, moisture ladden air in, that turns to frost. Runs all the time- check door gaskets. they are replaceable. Could also be a bad thermostat. thermostat is running the fridge, trying to reach the set temperature but won't shut off when it reaches it. Unplug the fridge or shut off the breaker is easier. (good wiring practice mandates a dedicated circuit for refrigerators). change the thermostat.

Does the model cool by allowing cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator or does it have separate cooling equipment like some sub zero's? Is there something blocking air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator?

I have a Whirlpool ED5FHGXNQ00 side by side.for a while it started to show signs of warming up in the fridge side.i noticed the dust built up underneath on the coils and cleaned it.i left it of*** night to defrost.have not plugged it back in yet.but in the freezer behind the panel there was ice build up to the right of the evaporator fan on the plastic scroll.i cleaned that upturned it on and noticed that there was very little air coming through the top air scoop vent in the fridge side.when I open the freezer door it allows more air though(probably to compensate).anyway I read alot on this issue and some say it's the defrost timer boardsome thermostat.the compressor stays pretty hotbut the freezer works fine.please help.

I have a Kenmore bottom fridge model #596.69274991. Although things are cold and frozen, the room temp is only 70 degree but it seem to run for well over an hour although there has not been much opening...

Tom, you pretty much have it all covered. Make sure both the freezer fan and the fan under the fridge are both running and keep your eye on the inside back wall of the freezer compartment fro any signs of frost build up (possible defrost problem).
Good luck!

If it sat for any period of time it may have lost its charge. In this case it would not be economical to repair.
