Unlock windows vista

1 fix for this issue is to use the restore disc that came with the pc. If you don't have those and u have a vista disc you can use the Vista disc to install Vista and get the vista code off the Microsoft sticker on the pc. You can contact Microsoft for help as well they may have a way of unlocking it. Also if you are looking to upgrade the pc and u have a Vista install cd you could just put in a new hard drive and then install Vista on it. Hope this helps you. The other issue is there may be a BIOS Password if so then there is a whole new set of issues.

How to fix BOOTMGR is missing" Error While Trying to Boot Windows Vista

If your Windows Vista computer has encountered the dreaded “BOOTMGR is missing” error, you aren’t alone. If the problem isn’t hardware related you can fix it with relative ease as long as you have a Windows Vista DVD handy.
If you don’t have one, you can create a Windows Vista repair disk using our guide

90d0186.png

Boot off the Windows Vista DVD and then click Next at the first prompt

You should see a link in the lower left-hand side for “Repair your computer

The installation process will attempt to find your Vista installation directory. If there’s more than one in the list, select the correct one and then use the Next button again

Click the first link for “Startup Repair

The installation process will repair the system, and then prompt for you to reboot

Alternatively you could have chosen the Command Prompt option instead, and use the following command to fix the boot options only:
bootrec /fixboot

At this point you should be able to reboot your computer, remove the DVD and everything should be working. If not, then head over to our forums and ask your question there. How do I install more memory to an Acer AX3400? The drive is in the way and can't see how to remove it. Helllllp! ! Thanks. Matt

Aaah! good old acer and their inability to build a pc with user accessable parts! (I have one too).
On the metal frame holding the dvd drive, there will be either a slide clip or small tabs. unlock the drive and push the drive out toward the front. If it moves a little then stops, remove the front of the pc by gently pulling the tabs at each corner of the front facia and fulling it off. Once the dvd drive is moved out, disconnect the power and data cables from the drive. this should give you enough room to insert the new ram. Be careful when adding components to a pc, make sure you are earthed - leave the power cord plugged - in but switch the power off. this will give you an earth. touch the chassis of the pc before you install components to make sure you don't discharge static electricity into the components or motherboard.
Good luck!

How to fix error code. STOP: 0x0000C1F5

This issue occurs because the Common Log File System (Clfs.sys) driver does not fix the $TxfLog file when the file is corrupted. In addition to the Stop error message, Windows Vista may not start during startup until the offending disk is removed from the computer.
Support for Windows Vista without any service packs installed ended on April 13, 2010. To continue receiving security updates for Windows, make sure you're running Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2).
To fix this allow Microsoft Windows to update you to the latest service pack.

If this answers your question, I'd appreciate 4 thumbs. I do this for fun and do not get paid.

I could explain how to do this here but it would take a lot of typing. Here is a link that will tell you how to remove / modify your boot.ini. You will want to remove the windows vista entry and that will fix your problem.

Maxtor basics external drive

Hi Nuisance101, I recall your running vista. Vista is a nightmare. If you cound only see the troubles we see on a daily basis here at FixYa you'ed understand. It's a common problem with Vista not seeing USB devices, externial devices. It does & then the next second it doesn't. Same for all external devices. I'm am 100% sure the trouble is not your system or your devices. It's Vista. I have gone over dozens of post from vista users. One would think MS has been on vacation since the release of vista. You can look at vista's web site for help for a possible fix, at this link. (I have no faith). MS blames driver software. Your Maxtor drive is external. Henve no driver software.
So it falls into that vista area of one time vista see's the drive & the next it does not.
Either way I though Maxtor addressed vista issues. I prefer Seagate drives myself. Personally know lots of people who's Maxtor's drives have just gone down for no reason. Seagate bought Maxtor.

Most of the post from vista users, claim users should check vista's updates often. Since Max Blaster did its job, I'm inclined to blame vista.

I wish I could give you a better fix or suggestion but I'm up against vista. That's why I run WinXP Pro. I do not have these problems.

Best wishes Nuisance101!
Mike
