My ipod is frozen and the buttons dont work the unlock button is frozen and the ipoda1236 EMC no. 2174 screen wont turn off

Hi lastonsarah
If you have forgotten the code or put the wrong code in your ipod, you can unlock the Ipod by doing the following:
Connect your IPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one Ipod synced with), and open iTunes.
When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock Ipod using either (the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs). . . you can restore your ipod to factory settings using ipod Updater.
Please note that this will erase all data on your ipod.
Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your ipod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your Ipod is associated with, do this:
1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone.
All of your songs and files will be deleted.
Always make a backup of your important data.
2. Connect your ipod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
3. Open iTunes and synchronize.
If you can't unlock your ipod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the Ipod, which will erase all music and data.
Please take time to rate me

My iPod touch is frozen at a white screen, i tried restarting it but it just makes the camera snap sound and thats it. HELP PLEASE!

well if your ipod wont turn on at all, its probably your home button that is stuck. If your home button isnt stuck, connect it to the computer and then restore it.

When I went to turn it on it has only a white screen-nothing else there, won't sync, I've tried the 5 ways to restore and there is nothing there.

Have you attempted to reset the ipod? It sounds more like a hardware issue, but a reset may still help. Just in case you are unfamiliar with how to perform a reset i have included step by step instructions below.

Last Modified: January 28, 2009 Article: HT1320 Old Article: 61705 Summary Learn how to reset or restart iPod following a freeze.

Important: If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, it may be because iPod is paused or the Hold switch is in the locked position. If so, a lock symbol appears on the screen. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position and check the screen.
If the iPod is connected to a computer and displays any of the following messages you should eject the iPod from within iTunes instead of resetting it:
Connected. Eject before disconnecting Sync in Progress. Please wait... Do not disconnect If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, the steps to reset it vary by model. You can easily tell which iPod model you have if you're not sure.

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.

if you can get it powered on at all with the reset, I would suggest restoring it using itunes. As before i've included the instructions below just incase you are insure on how to do this step.

How to restore iPod (ARTICLE NUMBER HT1339) Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer. Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod. After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes. Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are: Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod. Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available. Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available. Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available. If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring. Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models). Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models). During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
If none of these steps resolve your issue, you will probably want to contact a repair service dealer of your choice. Or replace the unit all together. I hope this does resolve your issue though. Good luck :)

30 gig ipod is frozen. Hard reset doesn't work.

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds.

If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.
When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time are preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.

Tried Jailbreaking itouch 2.2.1 using quickpwn and got briked! not will not let me go into recovery mode stuck on apple logo. I already tried holding P+H and then H but will not work cux iTunes says i need...

ok so i bricked my ipod accidentally and i figured a way to unbrick it(well i worked with mine) so you have your bricked ipod if you have anymeans of turning the screen on turn it off. so make sure your screen isblack (ipods off) before you do this then close itunes if its openconnect the ipod cable to your computer but not to the ipod. Then hold the home button and at the same time connect the ipod to your computer. Your ipod should show the connect to itunes symbol and then i tunes will automatically open

this should un-brick your ipod hopefully then you can update to anyfirmware but if you get an error just click restore not shift restore

give me feed back if it works or not thanks

it can only fix some ipods/iphones that only have software related issues but try it anyway!!

Nano 4th generation - frozen screen with apple logo

If you have not found a resolution to your issue as of yet, I would recommend attempting to force the iPod into disc mode and restore using iTunes. Below I have posted a step by step on both steps. If this does not resolve your issue please do let me know. :)

Putting ipod into disc mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363 Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears. My ipod nano is frozen

Try pushing down and holding for at least 5 seconds the Menu button and the center Select button, at the same time. This should force your iPod to restart and it should eventually again be discovered in iTunes. Using the Restore option aftwerwards in iTunes is adviceable, at least make sure your iPod has the last version of its software. Good luck!
