Same Problem

Apr 13, 2008

-   I have the ***-35PU and just finished fixing it. I found that lint/dust had gathered at the scroll wheels.
Here is how I fixed the problem. Carefully remove the 2 rear white glides at the rear of the mouse - the side away from the wire. Use tweezers and gently pry them out to expose the retaining screws that hold the top of the mouse to its base. After removing the screws, gently lift this rear section away from the base and slide it slightly rearward (away from the attached wire). Note the 2 small slots at the front of the base which receive the 2 small protrusions from the case top. Sliding the small protrusions into the slots and reseating the rear of the case is an important alignment before replacing the mounting screws during re-assembly.
Now that the mouse has been opened, use the tweezers to remove the accumulated dust/lint by the axles of the scrolling wheels. You will notice that the wheels have optical semi-conductor sender/receivers beside them. The sender projects light through the spokes on the wheels to the receiver. The dust/lint has interfered with the light path causing the unreliable scrolling performance.
Be sure not to touch, with your fingers, the adhesive side of the 2 white glides that were first removed to expose the screws. The oil on your fingers will reduce its adhesion to the base when replaced.
This opening and cleaning procedure also fixes problems with the left and right mouse button reliability problems due to mis-alignment of the top and base. My mouse also had this problem too. It works great now.-   Guest

check the mouse settings in the control panel, and be sure it's set to 4-5 lines, and not whole screen.
