I have owned this model head unit for the last 3 years also. A few months ago the display flickered for a few days and then stopped working all together. The Pro-Audio store I had install it went through a process of resetting the unit to factory defaults.... This did not solve the problem but also erased everything that I had set in the options and the sound levels. So now the unit is totally useless without the screen. Before they reset it, I could still use everything from memory without seeing it on the screen. I need to find a pin out for the front face connector so i can start trouble shooting what might be wrong since i am not going to pay the $300 that Pioneer wants for me to send it in for service. BTW, I bought the extended warranty.... it expired 5 months ago!!!!
If anyone has knowledge of what might be wrong with the OEL Display please send suggestions my way.

    Thanks,
    DJ Lost

i am in the same situation everytng sounds like my problem. i called crutchfield support an they told me it might be the printed circuit or ribben connector that connects the face to the unit. you may need someone to install it. the part shouldn't be more than 10 bucks.

yup, the same problem. no screen. everything works except the screen. and with out the screen its a basic model.
if anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know...

I opened the radio and found that the wired ribbon that connect the front display plug to the inside main electronic board was cutted on the place that the ribbon bends when the face plate move in and out to take off the display or put a CD.(It sees like after years opening and closing ribbon makes an edge and break). I called Crutchfield and they brought this phone # for Pioneer replacement parts, Tel. 1-800-228-7221. I called and ordered the part (P/N:XNP7026, FACEPLATE RIBBON CABLE - $24.95) and I installed it, the decks is working perfect! If you have electronic working experience will be easy, if not, buy the part and bring it to an electronic shop. The front connector plug has to be reused. This cable is used on other models like : DEHP6800MP, DEHP7800MP, DEHP780MP, DEHP9800BT, and the DEH980BT. Hope that this help!

Astra coded radio cant enter code??

I would suggest that your radio got a voltage surge when your battery was recently removed and re-connected. I would either:

1) Remove radio (if you have the special tool), unplug and re-connect harness, or

2) Pull the fuse in the fuse box for the radio (may be two), or

3) Disconnect the negative post to the battery, wait 30 seconds and re-apply (very quickly).

If the display does not reappear, I'm afraid the radio is damaged. Let me know.

I installed my Sony CDXGT250MP today and am able to listen to the cd played or Aux output but I have no radio reception?? I connected all of the wires and did have three left over in the wiring in the old...

The orange/black wire should be a dimmer, the blue wire should be power antenna, the Blue wire should only be hooked up if your antenna goes up when you turn the car on, also goes down when car is off. OR you could possibly have an aftermarket antenna that needs power to boost signal. There should be a thick black wire that is pluged in somewhere on the back of your radio.bassmekanic.gif

Jvc car radio

Speakers have a tendency to change characteristics. Take the radio out and carefully disconnect one by one speaker. Don't disconnect all of them if you don't know which wire goes where. Then try increasing volume to the cut off limit. You may be lucky to find the speaker that cause the trouble.Try a different speaker prior to unit repair attempt

My Pioneer DEH-P860MP has had an issue to where it will power-up and down on it's own. Sometimes power will flash, which I can tell as the display may illuminate for a brief moment and/or the faceplate...

you may have a bad flexible cable that goes from the face to the main pc board. there are two cables, one that goes to the upper face and another that goes to the lower fac. typically the one that goes bad is the lower.

CDA 9885 No idea why it suddenly stopped working

It sounds like you have a bad ground connection. You need to take the radio out and check all the connections. I bet you have a loose one somewhere. That is what the problem was with my bronco

Try this.
Here's another variation that worked for me just two days ago... you DO NOT NEED to take it to the dealer and you do NOT need to disconnect the battery, this can all be done with a couple clicks on your radio and call into that phone number.

This was posted previously on another post. ....
Procedure:
01. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)

02. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds

03. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. Don’t take forever, fifteen seconds max before the next step.

04. Press the AM/FM button

05. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one.

06. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are from STEP 05

07. Call 1 800 537 5140

08. Press 1 then #. You’ll hear Invalid Code, try again

09. Press 139010 then #. You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by *

10. Enter the number from STEP 6 then *

11. Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice

12. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)

13. Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the code from STEP 11

14. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to SEC Hope this works, Good luck. Leadispenser

Your radio is now un-locked and usable
