IBM T41 Touchpad issue

Hi, my T41 works great, the only problem is that the touchpad and keys underneath do not work. I replaced the entire front cover to no avail. What could be the issue? Thanks

Touchpad driver

- Start PC in safe mode, normally Pressing F8 key when windows starts up
- Then I will suggest you to go the site of your Laptop manufacture.
- Once there enter the model number OR service tag of the laptop then request driver (usually found in the web site's "Support Section").
- There you should be able to find all the drivers for your model laptop.
If this didn't help you then simply get the Intel software partner Reginout to optimize your laptop and fix all the registry issues
hopefully it will help you

The touchpad doesnt work

Hi integrity078...
Try this solution to your problem
*****************************************

To fix an unresponsive touchpad on your laptop, reactivate it by using the Function key on the keyboard and the Fn key.

This process is different for each computer manufacturer.
If unsure which Function key enables and disables the touchpad, try each one at a time and then
attempt to use the touchpad after each one.

A...Locate the "Fn" key of the laptop keyboard.
The "Fn" key has different colored text or the key is a different color.
B...Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.
The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.
C...Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key at the same time to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.
Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works. Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

T43 Lower Touchpad Not Function

Thinkpad Fn+X drivers are needed, or someone removed the resident routines.

For example my T41 has 5 thinkpad drivers for full thinkpad functionality, e.g. wireless connection, A/C monitor in the tray, as well as the Fn+X keys, mute, etc:

This is from my registry

"BMMMONWND"="rundll32.exe C:\\PROGRA~1\\ThinkPad\\UTILIT~1\\BatInfEx.dll,BMMAutonomicMonitor"
"BMMLREF"="C:\\Program Files\\ThinkPad\\Utilities\\BMMLREF.EXE"
"ACWLIcon"="C:\\Program Files\\ThinkPad\\ConnectUtilities\\ACWLIcon.exe"
"ACTray"="C:\\Program Files\\ThinkPad\\ConnectUtilities\\ACTray.exe"
"NPDTRAY"="C:\\PROGRA~1\\ThinkPad\\UTILIT~1\\NPDTray.exe"

I don't know what your background is, but this just indicates what is INSTALLED, not how to fix it - you need to "get" the drivers and THEN your registry (an advanced topic) will have these and they will work.

I have a t43 thinkpad. The lower touchpad keys are not working. Does anyone know where I can get the driver for that problem

There will be a function button on the keyboard to turn it on and off, look at all the f1 f2 etc keys and look for a mousepad symbol and press fn + that button.

Disabled Touchpad

connect a usb or ps2 mouse to it and re enable it either through device manager or re install the driver for the touchpad ( get the newest driver from IBM's website )
That or you may be able to re enable it through the utility that sometimes is in the system tray.

Ibm t41 sound not working

Just to try the obvious...
The volume buttons on the laptop underneath the screen work independently to the volume controls in Windows. Have you tried pressing and holding the volume up button and then playing a sound?

The touchpad is part of the palmrest bezel
You need to buy the Palmrest bezel.
