My projection tv is showing a triple image and i don't know how to fix it?

Go to menu then setup if you do not see convergence listed in menu then you have blow Fuse FL231. Located next to FBT flyback transfomer on right side there is 3 fuses in a roll they will look like small rectrangler caps but are Fuses.06 amp

If by 'triple image' you mean three seperate images with slightly distorted colors, it may be that your picture source has a resolution enabled that your set is not capable of. Make sure you only have enabled resolutions the set can display (480i, 480p, 720i, 1080i etc.)

Triple image color separation
All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....


  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

My screen went blank but the sound works fine. We were watching TV when the screen went out. The sound stayed on. We still get sound but no picture. Is this worth fixing? If so what is the best way to go...
all in one day my screen started by showing a u look at top and bottom. all three colors kind of separated from each other and therefore made shadows on all the writing and double and triple vision on people and images. then it drawed in from sides and showed some black. then it popped in the back and no picture. the sound then came back on with no picture. so i shut it off and unplugged it. what do i have to get to fix this? thank you, Robert Hopkins

My Toshiba 42H83 (2004) has double (or triple) images. Is this something that can be fixed? Is the repair some sort of lamp? If so, is that an easy fix?
This tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv convergence booard the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead.These parts on the tv convergence board, must be replaced to solved the tv convergence problems.The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

Our TV is showing double images
Due to failure of convergence out section in rear projection TV, it gives double image on screen.
Replace convergence out ICs on main circuit board of TV to fix this problem.
Let me know if you want to fix TV by yourself and you have electronics repair tools and knowledge to follow instructions., also confirm TV model and brand to provide you more technical info.

Tripe image, blue, red and green color on image, not focus
you will need to replace the two STK392-560 ICs and also check the 4.7 ohm 1/2 watt resistors and the six 3.5 amp pico fuses.

My 1080i has a triple picture, can you help?
Hi,
It definitely can be fixed the IC chips (called STKs) that line up the images from each picture tube are failing.Sometimes a fuse or resistor go out along with the chips. The parts would cost around $100 + whatever labor charge if you hire someone.
