Wheelwrite 10 stuck in the middle

When I turn on my IBM wheelwriter 10, it goes through the start up cycle and then returns to the middle, like there is a margin there, I have tried to clear the margins, but it doesn't seem to work, The backspace will not work as well. If I turn it off and then back on, I can get the backspace to work, but only to the middle again. What could this be?

It sounds like the left margin is set in the middle of the page, return to the stopping place, press margin release then backspace to the place where you wany the left margin and press l. margin key.

If that dosen't do it remove the batteries and unplug the machine for a minute or two all settings will go to defalt. CAUTION ALL THE MEMORY WILL BE CLEARED!!!
