Question about Onkyo TX-SR601 Receiver

1 Answer

Power We've been using this unit for about 2 years and it's worked perfectly until today. It just won't power up at all. Is there a fuse or something I can do?

1. Make sure the AC outlet is good.
2. Make sure there is no damage to the AC line cord.

3. Look to see if there is a fuse at the rear of the unit. It's usually located inside a black circular housing with a screw off cap that says "fuse".

If not, unplug the unit and remove the outside cover. Look for a blown fuse on the motherboard or power supply. Replace it with the EXACT value of the original fuse. You can purchase a new fuse at Radio Shack or hardware store or auto partsPower - 4.gif store. Try powering up the unit again and see if it works now or whether the fuse blows again. If it blows again, the power supply may have been damaged.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

- Jim

Bose Wave unplugged now it wont power up

The power supply and power regulation circuits on these particular models can be finicky and fail in various assorted manners, causing a no power up condition. This is not something an untrained person should attempt to repair. If there is a possibility that liquid seeped into the unit from a spill (common) then that can present its own set of problems. We service hundreds of these units. CET Services, 117 Windsor Ave., Hurley, WI 54534 // don.miller60@outlook.com.

Clarion CZ101A does not make a sound anymore. Has power to the unit (12.2v) and all functions but no sound at all.

If you have a fuse go out it is an indication that something is very wrong. The fuse is only there to help make sure that it doesn't catch on fire.
Unless you have the tools, meters, experience and you are good with a soldering iron you probably should consider taking it to the shop or just replace the unit... it most likely would be cheaper and easier than messing with it.

Unit won't turn on. There's power to the outlet but the reciever just won't light up! Sony STR-DE 197 It's only a couple of years old and shows no damage.

Failure of the the power source. To see if it's fixable the receiver will have to be opened and the power board tested . This job requires at least a basic experience in electronics - if you don't posses it all you can do is to look for a burned fuse or damaged capacitors. For them follow this

Does not come on at all have chec:ked fuse in plug ,was working perfect just stop playing 18 mnths old joyce-colathotmail.com

There will be additional fuses inside the unit.
Check to see if there is voltage coming out of the transformer. If there's none, look for fuses going into the transformer from the power input.
If there's voltage coming out of the transformer, check the fuses between it and the main board.
If you replace the fuse, and it blows again, don't try this a second time, the unit needs to be serviced by a qualified technician as there is something seriously wrong.

Most of these problems are rooted in a failed power amp module.
I'm working on an older technics unit but with the same troubles.
