The element has burnt out, IF you can get another it is worth repairing, IF NOT, then it is time for a new one.

My Krups Sensotoast Deluxe just stopped working. Can you help me? I really don't want to throw it out because it's relatively new and I expected a product with this name to last a lot longer.

The printed circuit board is likely burned out. It's pretty sad really. This is a poorly designed toaster. Krups owes us new toasters in my opinion. Looks like a fire hazard too. If you are curious, you can remove the 4 philips head screws out of the bottom of the toaster, gently pry off the push down lever and the dial, and examine the board and connections. 8_25_2012_1_16_19_pm.jpg

Krups Sensotoast Deluxe -- Stopped working!!! Checked outlet. Not the problem.

Did the same to me
The ceramic heater to wire connection broke off
not a prayer of fixing it
The heating elements are in a series circuit, so as goes one element, so goes both elements.

My toaster will not turn off. I press the toast button, it does it's job and then pops up, but the heating elements will continue to stay on.

It sounds like the temperature sensor has malfunctioned. When the sensor reaches a certain temperature it opens the contact to the heating elements shutting off the toaster. If the unit is under warranty then take it to a repair facility for Krups. I would not allow anyone to use the toaster. If left on it could cause a fire. Take care, stay safe and good luck with your unit!

Krups toaster won't work.

I do not know the exact inner workings of this toaster, but I can suggest what the fault may be.

Many of the toasters use a separate high power section in the eating element for toasting. This part of the element could have gone defective. There is the possibility the computer board that directs the power for the higher temperature mode for toasting has failed.

The only reliable way to know is to try the computer board, element assembly, or the switches if the switches are on a separate module than the computer board.

Just to add... These toaster units usually have a thermo protection fuse. These fuses have a temperature rating. It would be in series with the element. This fuse may have failed. This is a common fault in many of these types of units. This type of fuse is rated in Degrees C or F, and not in Amps. it is a thermo fuse.

Only toasts part of bread

The solution I got from the FixYa team was: "Get a new toaster." Which is how I ended up with 4 new toasters that don't work. I'm glad I didn't PAY for THAT answer.

Duraband 4 slice toaster manual model # TS-5221

if u need a manual for a toaster, then u r really in trouble...espcially for the amt of money u paid for it.
ok...
if u need instructions on how to use a toaster...here goes:
When:
A toaster is used to heat slices of bread, bagels, waffles, etc. to a hot, crispy consistency. Most toasters allow the user to set the toasting length to ensure the toasted bread comes out to temperature and crispiness to the user’s likes.
Where:
Toasters should be used on a flat, uncluttered surface near an electrical outlet but far from sinks, or running/standing water.
How:
To toast bread in a toaster, follow these instructions:

1. Place slices of toast, one each, in the slots on the top of the toaster.

2. Find the toast setting (a knob or lever) and adjust to the desired wellness of the toast. (Generally, there is a scale printed near the knob or lever ranging from light to dark toast).

3. Push down the toasting lever (moving the slices of bread down into the toaster between the heating elements.

4. When the toast is finished, the slices will “pop” up automatically.

5. Remove the toast from the toaster.
WARNING:
If the bread should get stuck inside the toaster, DO NOT PUT ANYTHING INSIDE THE TOASTER in attempt to dig it out. UNPLUG the toaster, turn it upside down and shake. If the toast does not fall out, use a plastic fork or knife to gently remove it from the toaster. Using metal utensils could damage the heating elements. NEVER stick anything in the toaster while it is plugged in.
*For further safety, it is recommended that the toaster be unplugged after each use.
I wish u luck and happy toasting.
