Setting Up Surround Sound with satellite tv digital tuner
Could you explain how I can set up this JVC DVD surround sound system to work in conjuction with my satellite tv tuner so that the tv channel sound is sent through the sub woofer and other speakers.
Re: Setting Up Surround Sound with satellite tv digital...
There are two good options with this receiver, it will depend on which your sat box will take. Either the optical or the orange connector next to it will give you digital audio output.
Both of these connections are female to female, so they will look identical on each box. The most likely candidate for both boxes is the optical connection. You'll probably need to purchase the optical cord. Once you have the cable connected between the boxes take a close look at the manual, since you'll need to tell it to expect the audio signal to be coming in from the digital input.

hi you didn't mentioned the model number of your surround sound system, for a better solution its important. any why try the following.
if you are connected the analog audio output of your tv to the system using RCA cable, then go to the setup of the surround sound system and change the input assignment setting from digital to analog. If your connected the digital output of your tv to the digital input of your surround system using optical cable then, goto the setup of your surround system and change the input assignment to digital (optical) input.
if u need any further assistance fell free to contact through fixya
You need to assign the HDMI input(s) to the functions they represent, using the Front Panel Tuning/Preset control...
If you connect a video component to an HDMI input, you must assign that HDMI Input to an input selector in Setup.
For example, you could assign the “DVD” setting to “IN1”, and assign the
“CBL/SAT” setting to “IN2”.
Likewise if you use digital audio inputs...
Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, press the [DIGITAL INPUT] button repeatedly until sound is heard. The digital input is now properly assigned.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1 DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver
to the COAXIAL 2 DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary
to assign the digital input.
Hi I have an RCA Truflat TV and a philips Surround sound dvd all in one system and a jvc dish system. I have had my surround working up until my nephews messed with it and hooked up a wii system to it. Now I get no sound on my surround sound and I have tried rearranging the cables but I can not get any sound from the surround sound and for the life of me I can not rember how I originaly had it set up. can you help?
I connected my surround sound to the audio output on my samsung tv and it works fine. Of course I don't have an hdmi input on my surround sound system because its an older model, but it works great. Just got to put the surround sound to audio instead of dvd or tuner setting
Hello, All you need to do is follow the following directions on your TV and you will be on your way listening to your great Philips TV on your great Sony Surround Sound. You do not need to buy any other cords or anything else. Its just a setting on your TV that needs to be adjusted. By the way, I have a Sony Home Thearte System DAV-HDX275 and I've had it for almost 8 months and its sounds good with my TV and Movies. The speakers are very cheap and it doesn't give you the sound you expect. So I came accross some Boston Accustics CR65's that are not sold anymore but they did run around $700 a peice. I am upgrading the Reciever very soon to a better qualtiy Reciever. This Surround Sound System is great for a starter Surround Sound System.
Press MENU on the remote control and select TV settings >
Press up or down to highlight a sound setting and press right to select the setting.
Press up or down to adjust the setting, and press OK to confirm the change.
Press Menu to exit.
You want to pick Incredible Surround, but if that does not work try them all. The Incredible Surround should do the trick because that switches it from the TV Speakers to the Surround Sound.

I called the JVC tech service rep. I went from the Cable box to the JVC unit with a Digital Optical Cable, from dvd/vcr player to jvc unit with a Composite Cable and Audio Cables. From cable box to tv with hdmi cable and from jvc unit to tv with componet cables and cable box to dvd/vcr with Audio/ Video and S-Video cables. This allows me to have the cable TV access and Surround sound in all mode. I have HD and Digital surround sound in three diiferent modes. Everything is working great. Thanks for the opportunity for help just the same.
You should have a AUDIO menu in which you can simulate true surround sound. This should be in your owners manual. Your DVD is recorded in dolby surround sound that's why on your set it will be reproduced as recorded. I hope Samsung is using a ATSC tuner in that model?
see if ur DVD player has a TV/Audio in....you have to set it up so u watch TV threw your DVD player (if you have one of of the Surround Sound in a box systems) if you have SS w/ a receiver then you'd have to run Audio out from your TV/Cable/Satellite to the receiver for it to work
I am assuming that you are using a surround sound system? If so on the back of the satellite receiver you will have RCA cables labled yellow ,red, white uuse an rca cable to run from the output on the back of the sat box to an rca input on the surround sound unit.the inputs should be labled on the back of the surround sound unit.once you have the sat box plugged in look for the output on the surround sound (rca cables) run one set of rca cables to the rca cable input of the Tv.on the original tv remote select the tv input that is the cable from the surround sound is plugged in to . make sure the surround sound unit input is selected to the input that the sat box is plugged into.this will give you surround sound from your satellite receiver, repeat with your DVD player plugging the DVD rca cable output to another empty input on the surround sound.to switch between the sat box (satellite TV) to DvD select another input on the surround sound unit.Try to correspond the units you are plugging into the surround sound to the correct name of the component on the back of the surround sound unit to avoid confussion.any questions,Im here to help.If this works rate me FIXYA! if it helps.GOOD LUCK!
