Question about NEC MobilePro 790 Pocket PC

Syncing my MobilePro 790 with my computer

Our computer runs Windows Vista Home Premium. It does not use Activesync, it uses Windows Mobile Device Center. After I installed a cable that is serial on one end and USB on the other end and I try to connect my device, I get aCommunications Error. Cannot start communications with desktop computer. Remote networking could not start due to a critical error (Error 678). Is this device compatible with Windows Vista? How do you connect with the computer using Windows Mobile Device Center. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It is a Nec MobilePro 790 Handheld/pc running Microsoft Handheld pc 2000. Our computer is a Gateway personal computer (GT5428) running Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium. It is only about 2 months old. This cable is from Radio Shack. It is a 6 ft. USB to Serial Cable. Connects a serial(D89) equipped peripheral to a USB port. On the package, it states for serial devices which require a RS-232 connection that you want to connect to a USB port. Requirements: Available USB port, Windows 98 SE or later. The only number on the package is 26-183. I was also wondering for the model of Nec Mobile Pro that I have what would be the largest CF card it could take. I hope that I have provided the information that you need. Thank You Jan

I cannot access windows vista to sync with my hp 6310 ipaq

Greetings - I'm going to guess that perhaps you installed Activesync 4.5, For Vista or Windows 7 you have to install Windows Mobile Device Center which is available HERE.

If you are using mobile device center that isn't the problem and Microsoft has a dedicated section of their website dedicated to solutions syncing Windows Mobile device with Vista, way too much for me to go over here. There's a great deal of trouble shooting information about sync problems HERE.

Thanks for using Fix Ya

I cannot get my nec mobile pro 900 to sync with my laptop i downloaded activesync from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/eulas/eula_activesync45_1033.mspx?ProductID=76 i downloaded...

Which one did you do first: Did you install ActiveSync 4.5 first, or did you try installing the driver first?

The best way to do this is as follows:

  1. Download and install ActiveSync (4.5 is what i use both at home and work and it works great with the NEC 900 and 900C's.
  2. Restart your Windows XP Machine (I assume you don't have Vista)
  3. Next, follow the instructions for the installing the NEC 900 usb drivers (these drivers should be installed AFTER installing ActiveSync... (it seems to work that way without problems for me).
  4. Next, restart your xp machine again.
  5. Now, connect your NEC MobilePro 900 to your Windows XP machine, and it should perform smoothly.
If this does not work for you, you can contact the folks at usedhandhelds.com, they sell and repair, as well as provide support for these machines.

Hope this helps

I have htc p3400i. i am trying to save files from htc on my pc

Hi!

You can use ActiveSync from Microsoft to save your files from your phone.
Microsoft replaced ActiveSync with Windows Mobile Device Center, an improved version of the software for use with computers running Windows Vista.
Via Windows Mobile Device Center you can browse, open and save all files on your device. You've also the possibility to make an complete image of your device.

Hope I could help you.

all you havce to do is hook up the cradle to the USB port, and you MIGHT have to and i stress this because it will usually open on its own, you may have to open windows mobile device center, its in your programs menu, activesync is no longer used in VISTA, so any attempt to put it on will probably be stopped , once oyu plug in th ePDA check for updates, this will ensure that you have all the drivers for the Dell X30 (i)

Htc touch usb modem driver

To have your devices used as a modem for a laptop? If so, it should already be on the devices. It's called Internet Sharing under StartPrograms. If it's not there, goto your file explorer and goto My DeviceWindows and you should also be able to find it there.

Are you talking about the syncing software? If so, you can get it from Microsoft's website. If you are using Windows XP, you need to download ActiveSync 4.5. If Windows Vista, you need Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1.

You can download ActiveSync 4.5 here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx

Or Windows Mobile Device Center here:
