Question about Phones

Ericofon ringer Hey Gents, wassup!?! here's what I've got. An old original Ericofon rotary dial, which works fine except for the ringer. Have been told that some of these had no ringer, but the ex-roomate I got this from told me that the ringer had been disconnected. I have a fair amount of electro-mechanical expertise, am familiar with and have the tools to attach RJ11 connectors, so when my natural curiosity got hold and I pulled the guts out, here's what I found. First, I'm not sure this is the original cord for this phone. Anyway, inside were four screws where one might assume the cord would attach. One has a blue wire, the other yellow. The other two screws are part of the big red (answer) button switch on the bottom of the phone. However, there were only three wires from the cord connected...one to blue, one to one of the button switch screws, the third going to an orange wire with screw connection at the bottom of the circuit board. So, is there any way to visually determine if this thing does have any kind of ringer/buzzer, and if so what are the proper connections? Reference RJ11 connector with tab down, pointing away from me. Have at it!!

Is it possible to call out with this phone,it has an old fashion dial

I assumed your old-fashioned phone works in Pulse (Rotary) mode only. Maybe the Tel Company or the Private Tel Exchange in your house supports only DTMF (Dual-tone Multi frequency) or MF (Multi Freq.) tone.

Home phone does not ring I know that it's working

Look for an internal setting that disables the ringer. This can be a ***** because most of us don't bother to customize phones like this and we never keep the manuals.

Check the manufacturer's web site for instructions or a manual.

There could be an external control to turn it down or off. The old 500 phone (black, rotary dial) had a metal dial you could spin to turn down the ringer.

You can always check a residential line by connecting to the demarc where the telco wires end and yours begin. Connect there and call in with your cell phone. If you get through, there but not using house wiring the fault is in wiring you own and you must pay to fix it. Don;t forget to reconnect the house when you are done.

Continuous dial tone on phone line . When i try to dial out- i just get a continuos dial tone- happening on my 2 cordless, landline is fine. Dont use a magic jack, changed out hardware, new cordless dont...

There are two possible answers to this problem. The first thing is to check on the cordless phones, is a 2 way switch, one setting is for DP=Dial pulse (setting for old rotary phones) 2nd setting is TT= Touch Tone. I would guess that the setting should be set to TT on both cordless phones for touchtone.
Second thing to do is to plug in the base unit of your cordless phone to a jack that currently has a landline phone plugged into it that works and test again. If cordless phone works OK then go back to the original jack that didn't work and reverse the wires in the jack: that is what is known as a "polarity" issue.

My phone is stuck on rotary dialing. My handset had all the options but the dial mode. After caller id setup it went straight to languages and then started back over with ringer volume.

1) When the phone is in the standby mode, press menu/mute.
2) Press - to move the pointer to “Dial Mode”.
3) Press select/ch and the display will show the current setting.
(The initial setting is Tone.)
4) Press + or - to change the selection.
5) Press select/ch and a confirmation tone will sound.
6) Press end to exit.

It sounds like rotary dialing

I have a similar Panasonic phone (KX_TGA101S).  Someone must have inadvertently changed the dial mode on you.  Here is how you change it on mine, which should be similar to yours.  Hit the Menu button.  Scroll down to "Set tel line" and hit the Menu Button (OK). If it isn't displayed, scroll to "Set Dial Mode" and hit the Menu Button. Select Tone instead of Pulse and hit the Menu Button.  That should do it.

Unable to dial out

I don't know whay I did sorry, but it now works. I was going thru different functions and when I tried again it workd. I jist noticed when it dials out it makes the old fashioned rotary dialing sound after ea number selected. I'm just glad it works.

Also it is not compatible with the home phone features of my service provider like *98 to access msgs.

Thanks, I look forward to using the Christmas ringtone!\

Ge 900 MHz cordless phone set on rotary dialing

Lisa, If the 900MHZ phone is Model 26928M programming for rotary dial usually goes like below, can't hurt to try on any model. TONE/PULSE DIALING This adjustment allows you to select tone (touch-tone) or pulse (rotary) mode dialing. The phone is pre-set for touch-tone use. To set to tone or pulse dialing: 1. Press and hold the program button for two seconds. You will hear a beep. 2. Press the *tone button to select Tone Dialing or press #pause to select Pulse Dialing. 3. Press the program button again. You will hear a confirmation tone.
