Question about Yamaha RX-V661 Receiver

RX V670 Yamaha Receiver-No big display, No amplification

I changed a bridge rectifier, that brought voltages back, and changed system controller (IC 733) which brought back Input LED's above input buttons when pressed, but no big display and no amplifiation, seems like signal processing rather than voltages? help!, thanks to anyone that knows what commonly falis on these receivers, I have complete schematics and service manual. (note: actually a RX V670) Charles

Re: Yamaha RX V670 Receiver Powering Off

I have found there are capacitors failing through the output circuit. Look for 10, 33, 47, etc.. microfarads. In that range. I charge typicaly 150 to $200 with parts on something like this. Larry's Electronics ledstiles@hotmail.com

Yamaha receiver turns off seconds after being turned on

It sounds like the amp is going into protect mode.
Dissconnect all speakers from back of amp and then try to turn on.
If it works, you have a short on one or more of the speakers.

Possible burnt out power supply on Yamaha RX-V557

Can you check the power transformer, voltage & resistance.
You may have to unsolder some components to test them...such as the rectifying diodes and the transformer.  I believe that the outputs from the power supply board are all DC voltages.  Is there all so a IC chip on the power supply board?  Does your insurance cover lightening damage?
