DISH dvr 625

Whenever it rains hard, Dish DVR 625 goes out. Even very lite drizzle does the same. It is a **** and a piece of junk. I wnet thru Menu/6/1/1 and no signal strength for International Channels like 610, 652 etc. Itried to reboot it. It works sometimes. No reliability at all. It is a constant nuisance.
Our cables are Ok and no problems with them. Is there a panacea?

Yes, this definitely sounds like an alignment issue or an all out line of site issue.

Have a tech come out and check it for you he should be able to resove it by repeaking the dish(es), moving the dish(es), or possibly using another orbital to get your internationals to come in.

If foilage is the cause of the problem and moving the dish will not resolve the issue the foilage must be removed.

Its most likely the secondary dish that is used for international programming. Your signal is probably low on that to begin with and during inclement weather goes out completely. A tech will go out at a cost to you and get that repaired.

Why does my Dish Network DVR-625 DTV receiver sound like it is running all the time

The Dish 625 as with the other Dish DVR systems has a fan built into the back of the unit. The fan runs nearly all the time to keep the internal drive cool. Sometimes the fan sounds louder that normal. what I do from time to time is take my shop vac and or the small vac u you use to clean your computer. and clean the vents around the fan. I do this on my desk top computer also.. Hope this helps.

How do I get closed captioning on my 625 dish dvr.

Guest,

The 625 receiver does not have a setting to control closed caption. This is a setting from your TV itself. I would look at your TV manual to see how you can turn the feature on. I hope this helps.

Officially, no you would not be able to since you no longer pay the $5.98 DVR fee which Dish charges for the DVR. Wish I could have given you better news. Thanks for using Fix Ya and let me know if I can further assist you.

Lines on TV with DVR-625

try using a better cable from the receiver to the tv. sometimes less expensive cables dont "ground " as well as they should after a few years. the more shielding the better. the cable here will sell you the cable much cheaper then going to any store and its better quality, even if your not a customer of cable.
hope this helps

My DVR-625, wont even turn on.

at the time the hard drive problem came up the receiver would of went into recovery mode this can take a good hour for it to fix and can do nothing until it would finish on its own and take care of. Doing the power reset is just like unpluging the receiver. Try unpluging again for 30 minutes and plug back in again and just wait receiver should come back on its own. Don't hit any buttons. If not will have to send out to dish for repair. 800-333-3474 dish
