Unfortunately, that port is HDMI out not HDMI in. You can connect either the laptop or the DVD player to a TV with an HDMI port.

I hope this helps.

How to hook up DVD player to 19' led HDTV

The modern way is to buy a HDMI Cable
Plug it in to the HDMI Port on back of DVD Player
Plug the other end into spare HDMI Port on LED TV.
Put in a DVD & hit Play
Use remote control to select HDMI port on LED TV
If it does not have a HDMI port then you need a converter box which picks up the Red & White (sound) & Yellow (viideo) and converts to HDMI standard.

How to connect a dvd player to my flat screen?

Almost all newer DVD Players have an HDMI port... and so do the Flat Screen TV's. This is the best and easiest way to hook up components to your TV. Check the back of your DVD Player and look for a Horizontal Port that says HDMI (out). On your TV, look for the same (HDMI "in"). You can go to Walmart and buy an HDMI Cable, plug it in to the DVD Player "out" and then into the TV HDMI "in" (if there are multiple ports - always start with the one marked " HDMI -1, etc...). This is all you have to do. In your TV Remote Menu Settings... there will be a list of your "Ports"; e.g. HDMI-1, HDMI-2, etc...). All you have to do is turn your DVD Player and TV on, choose the HDMI-1 Input, and play your movie. Good luck and enjoy!

I lost my manual and I am trying to connect my DVD player to the set with no luck. I tried hooking it up with just the HDMI cable and I get video but no sound. What can I do? DO I only need to connect a...

Howdy. S-Video will not provide sound either. It and HDMI are just video connections. Find the red and white ended cables and plug them into the inputs closest to the HDMI (or the port labeled HDMI audio) then plug them into the ports on the back of the DVD player. That will put you in business. If you don't have the cable, it can be had at any hardware or department store. Just ask for a red and white audio cable. You almost have it, don't give up:)

I want to connect my denon 790 to my 5:1 surround, HDMI DVD player and HD samsung 55'' LCD. what cables do i need and where to put them. thanks

You will need 1 HDMI cable to link between your DVD player and the Denon, plug the HDMI cord into the HDMI port on the back of your DVD player and the the other end into the Denon 790 HDMI port labeled DVD,then you will need another HDMI cord to go between the Denon and your LCD TV,plug one end of the HDMI cord into the Denon 790 HDMI port labeled HDMI monitor out and the other end into one of the HDMI ports on the back of your TV, it doesn't matter which one you use, just remember that you will have to change the input on the tv to that specific HDMI port when you play back a DVD and you will also have to change the Denon to DVD as your source to send the audio through the Denon to your surround sound speakers.( The Denon owners manual will help!!)
