Question about Yamaha SW218V Speaker
Only one side of my sw218 is playing and I have to keep the volume low on the amp to keep the rattling sound on the non playing side from being heard.
Go to usspeaker.com and get a new emence wofer under $160

Moving coil burned... you can have it rewinded by an expert, real expert on speakre repairs. if cant find any then i suggest you get it from the manufacturer only or it could goi as far as damaging your amps. You can order the woofer drivers though from yamaha and it is not hard to replace, 8 screws only and not required to oepn the cabinet, the dsisgn is surface mounting.

The speaker on the non-playing side is blown. Disconnect it or the amp will get fried as well. The coil has loosened from its form and is rattling against the speaker frame. If the insullation on the coil wires gets worn enough,it will short against the frame and possibly smoke that amp channel.
