Re: CD driver help??
Check in device manager to see that it is in the list,
if it is not ,
check the data cable is in the socket of the motherboard and the back of the drive if all cables are tight in, then drive probably on its last legs,
if it is in device manager try a cd cleaner on it.

Basically - YOU CAN'T! They are sealed for ever. If your computer boots up successfully your hard drives are working. Are you talking about a CD/DVD drive? If so you need a special cleaning disk which cleans the laser head. Also try the same disk in someone elses computer if in doubt.
1- Your DVD / CD player , which is not reading the video files properly probably because of a damaged lens.
2- Your RAM is less than the amount which is required to play the video file properly.
3- The CD / DVD itself if it has scratches or has done bad, if this is the case with all video cds/dvds then this is not the problem.
Now to check if it's not a problem with your DVD or CD player reading the disc,
Try copying the video file to your hard disk and play it , if it works ok , it could be the reason that your CD/DVD lens is damaged and not in best condition.
The laser sensor from the reading head inside your unit has failed and no longer sees the disk. this is unfixable, the unit is dead. Luckily a new unit is very cheap, less than $25, and it can be bought at every computer shop or section inside a bigger shop.
It's a common problem if the cd\dvd rom is very used. Try using a cd/dvd cleaner set, a wet one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included liquid at the set (usually isopropyl alchohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. This way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd/dvd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush".

it's because you are using cd to burn the movies on to and not dvd. your dvd will only read movies from dvd. I know it seems like if you put movies on a cd it should read in a dvd player, but since its not on dvd disk, then it will not play.
It sound like yourDVD/CD+RW has a problem with the read/write head. So u can use some cleaning liquid to clean the head. After cleaning hope it will work on CD. Most of the time DVD are not played or read properly when you eject the disk while in use.
This can be due to the reason that the certain cd roms cannot be read by your drive. please insert and check other brand cd roms...if they run then the cd rom u r using cannot be read by ur Cd.dvdw DVD drive
