Question about Formac Studio DV/TVR (FS 1142-48) Video Capture

1 Answer

Audio probelms Hi I used the formac converter to bring the signal as digital to be able to edit in Imovie the video captured fine, but when I play back the captured video clips I get a terrible audio noise, but this happens only when I use Imovie, if I use final cut pro it works great, is there a problem with Imovie and will it also have the same problem using final cut express? Thanks luis

I have the same problem. When I download analog video and sound from a s-vhs unit into my imac and imovie 06 it sounds and looks fine as it is recording. The problem comes when I go to play it back on imovie. The sound is there and the video is fine... however, there is a sound resembling a machine gun in the background that drowns out most of the recorded audio. I've tried everthing I know to do. Switching VCR's, switching cables, plugging in directly, trying different vhs sources. Clueless in Fl.

Capture video from Canon Vixia stopped working with iMovie

Video files come from Canon Vixia hg20 are in AVCHD format and this is a format which is difficult to be imported and edited by FCP and iMovie. So you have to convert AVCHD files to other easily edited video format, like FCP and iMovie preferred MOV format.

As for AVCHD Converter, have a try Aunsoft MTS Converter for Mac which is is a powerful video converter, player, editor for Mac and Windows. It can play many various movie files; it can encode movies to many formats, including iPod; it can cut, trim and join movies.

You can use this program to open and play most movie formats transport streams; edit them with crop and Trim;export them to QuickTime, AVI, DV and MPEG-4 files with more than professional quality, so you can easily import them in a DVD authoring tool, and use them with many other applications or devices.

Can't upload videos to Imovie

Kodak series cameras capture videos in MOV files. iMovie will only import codecs that it can edit. iMovie can import MP4, DV, Apple Intermediate Codec, H.264, Photo JPEG, Motion JPEG, Apple Animation, and perhaps others. MOV is a multimedia container file, not a codec. It can contain any of the above codecs, but it could contain other codecs that are not editable by iMovie, such as MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 so that sometimes iMovie cannot recognize Kodak videos directly.
please try this video converter, good luck. kodak video to imovie

DCV-TRV460 Tranfer to DVD

Converting analog video, like from Hi-8, 8mm, and VHS to digital video is not as simple as plugging in a cable. If you happen to have a DVD recorder deck, you can burn a disc from the footage directly. Otherwise, you'll need to get some sort of capture device that converts the analog information to digital, then burn a DVD. I use a Hauppauge TV capture card, it converts signals from coaxial cable to digital on my hard drive. There are small, USB-based video capture devices readily available, some come with editing software, but you can always use Windows Movie Maker on a PC, or iMovie on a Mac.
