I have a One XL Australia version with the same problem, previously worked fine until I installed tom tom home to my new laptop and downloaded and installed updates as prompted. Now getting "no maps found" message after startup screen, and will go no further. I have tried re-installing application and map to no avail. Haven't tried re-formatting hard drive as i don't have a working backup. Files are still present on internal memory when you explore in Tom tom home and via USB drive. i did manage to get a screen in home asking for product code to activate maps, however i do not have a product code and according to Tomtom website, shoudn't need one for my map version. I have e-mailed Tomtom support re. this problem but have not received a reply as yet. it's good to hear someone else has this problem, it would be great if someone had an answer.

Same problem. I just keep getting NO MAPS FOUND. I have e-mailed Tom Tom support. I am waiting for an answer. I am ready to return it for something more reliable. All I did was download the maps when I first opened it. (It was a Christmas gift.)

    Hello!

Yes! you've guessed it, I've got the same problem.First of all TomTom home automatically updated it's self to the latest version. As instructed, I checked for latest version of GB & Ireland map, it said there was a newer version, so I downloaded it.It took about 45 mins.I disconnected device only to find the screen was grey with "NO MAPS FOUND" on it. I've been back in TT Home under tools "Use latest maps guarantee" & it states latest map already loaded.I can't send E-mail to TomTom as it states I need to log in before I can send E-mail.... I'M ALREADY LOGGED IN !!!!

    How frustrating.

    Regards T.

SAME PROBLEM! I got it as an x-mas gift- worked fine and then i downloaded the new maps- and now it says no maps found- in fact, it doesn't even know my location at all.

If anyone comes up with the answer- please e-mail me. Thank you.

Purchased TomTom One XL in March 2009. Happy, then taking advice to check for updates, connected via Tomtom Home, installed upgrade, disconnected, device screen lit showing 3 words "No Maps Found!"

Went to my backup attempted to re-install. Looked in Home to check it is installed. Did not show map just filled up the card. Reported problem by phone 6 April, lady appeared helpful, understood others have had similar problem. She sent email to me asking for copy of system file plus proof of purchase. Today is 10 April and no response yet!

That number was constantly busy when I tried to call. Apparently everyone in the world is trying to fix their Tomtom. I sent mine back. I don't have the time or patience to try to fix a defective device. Tomtom needs to get their **** together!!!!

Easy solution: [TomTom HOME] - [Tools] - [Use Latest Map Guarantee]

This helped me, after interrupted download destroyed the map with "No maps found" as result.

Althought before that I did several other things, partially on my own, partially thanks to TomTom support. They might or might not be necessary for it to work. Here they are:

== Followed TomTom advise:
"In Home v2.xx

Tools/Preferences/Folder preferences/Downloads/Browse and delete the downloads folder

Exit Home by right clicking the HOME icon in the Windows sys tray ( next to the Windows clock ) and then open it again
Via Start > Programs ( this will create a new downloads folder)

Log-in again ( Very important) and click on update your device
[..]
Please ensure that you have the latest version of Home installed [..] and that you are logged in ( File > log In )"

== Before that I had done this:
1) Removed in user directory "[..]\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\map\Western___Central_Europe_2GB".

2) In the root directory of the device removed directory "Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB".

(After this I also did complete uninstall of TomTom HOME 2, with following manual removal of directories (1) "[..]\My Documents\TomTom\HOME", (2) [..]\Application Data\TomTom\HOME", (3) "C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2", rebooting and following re-installation, but possibly that was an overkill)

==
...Now suddenly everything works just fine.

I have rectified my problem ' No maps found'.
Using TomTom Home, clicked Add Maps, scrolled through maps (to buy) until my Western Europe 1GB map was shown (to add), clicked to install.
Error message appeared delete temporary folders from computer. I did and was able to install the map successfully.

If you disconnect before the full installation completes, your device can get buggy. I'd try their customer service line to help you walk through the troubleshooting. The maps that come preloaded may be out of date, which is why they include the free upgrade and guarantee, but I wouldn't hesitate to give them a call at 1 866 486 6866. It'll be more helpful than waiting on emails

It says "no maps found"

I had the same problem before on a TomTom GO 730. The free internal memory was too small to hold the updated map so installation failed (the download to PC was OK, the message is misleading).
It's a TomTom software bug to not check on the available free memory properly before the update process is started.
My TomTom device required a new software install from scratch. Remove any excess MP3 or unused voices before you retry the update.

Screen reads"no maps found"

I found this article online, and it may work for you:

"Ok this has worked on at least four tomtom one’s
And one xl’s that i have tried,
First of all connect your tomtom to your computer.
making sure your online,Go to log on.
if you’ve not created an account create one now.
If you’ve had to create an account restart tomtom home.

You should have the tomtom home screen in front of you,
Now even if tomtom home is showing you logged in, ignore
this click your email adderss in the top right hand side of the screen
and log in again and click continue.
Then click Device/disconnect device.
Now your tomtom will update itself and your maps will be restored"

No maps found on my tomtom xl iq routes

You should first update your version of tom-tom home. (download and save DON'T run it from the web as this has some minor glitches on occasion)

If you are looking to buy new maps then TTH will help you with that.

You didn't say if it was TTH that was not finding maps or your GPS itself when you power it up. This is important information that is needed to help you further.

If you have an SD card then remove that before you power up to see if your tom-tom works OK or not.

After a certain period of time updates can only be bought and not just downloaded

No Maps found on TomTom One XL

You were able to successfully download windows files with your Mac and transfer them to your Tom Tom? I'd suggest trying the transaction again, but doing it with a windows machine. (Trust me, I have a Mac and I realize how unwell it likes to play with Windows.) {But I wouldn't trade it}

you are using the tomtom update application on PC?
your download is complete? New charts and firmware?
Make sure you download right firmware.
If not download right one.
Besure map download wasnot broken off because of time-out.
Format after backup your SD card. Start reinstalling firmware and then maps. Be sure not too have too small memory size SD card.

I have been in this mess. TY TomTom for your bad service

Software updates are free, maps are not.

To download software updates, you need to download Tomtom Home, and connect tomtom to a computer.

Download Tomtom home here: TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems

I purchased a tom tom one xl and find some new freeways are not on there or map is not up to date. How can I get updates, with out spending $60 for their updates? I have had it only 6 weeks, enough to...

The only way to get map updates without buying a new map,
is through the MapShare system.

If you havent, make an account for free at Tomtom.com:
http://www.tomtom.com/myTomTom/myProfile/index.php

If you havent, install TomTom Home:
http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=17

Connect and update device on a regular basis.
Hope this helps for you.
