Oooh thats a tough one. lets see, if it will still connect to the computer, the iriver tools that are used to update firmware should work. try to put it into restore mode by holding the right front button immediately after reset (use a pin or toothpick to hit the button on top) and plug it into your pc. hopefully those files are still intact. doing a refresh of the firmware should work. if not i believe there are repair tools for the h10 on irivers support page. http://www.iriverinc.com/lounge/loungeView.asp?selectPart=02&findWord=&sno=685&page=1&cateCode=02 this is a link to the page that has recovery tools and firmware update tools. Hope this helps!

It sounds like some of the program has been corrupted/deleted so you should try a free and very useful tool, CCleaner. It can be downloaded at http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner If that doesn't work you may have to go to the install folder and simply delete it, then from CCleaner run the registry cleaner to fix registry and other system problems. Hope this helps and have a nice day!

My acer notebook says windows could not start because the file is missing or corrupt \windos\system32\config\system. How do I repair it without a drive to download windows xp onto the computer?

Well i got a trick, i get into other xp notebook or pc and get rid of it of copying the missing file from others, to find that missing file into that address, then burning on the CD, while booting, that he have the file. But that is a file that he trail for configuration of the operative system, but is missing.Sometimes is file that is gone lost from someplace or is delete by bad malware. If you have recover, your lucky to have one.

My system won't boot because the windows\system32\config\system

If i am from Singnet technical Helpdesk, we are advised to direct you to Acer Service centre if you owned an Acer computer with a serial number and if it is still under the warranty period on Operating system missing, Another option is to contact Microsoft service centre for CD replacement or oprating system advise since they are the suppliers and vendors for fathering the operating system, To troubleshoot your missing files, you need to know pecifically which files are missing and are they registered in your O/S and are they active and running or are they deactivated, takes longer time to solve missing files problems because you did not list what files are missing and you need to tell microsoft what files are missing in our operating system as there are thousand of files in the WIndows operating system

Windows dont start

It means that some files needed for windows to restart are missing, probably a system file or boot files. Some windows xp users usually re-install and repair their windows xp system using their original windows xp install disk and selecting the "repair" ooption. But another practical solution is to note down the missing file, then,on another PC using the same system, search for that file and copy, though you will have to note the folder location of that missing file from another PC. Boot your PC (the one that doesn't boot) with a system diskand on the command prompt (DOS prompt) copy the missing file from yourcopy disk to the same location where the missing file should be situated.

If the practical suggestion wouldn't work, then you have to re-install your windows on top of the current installation using your windows cd to repair yourwindows sytem, if this still doesn't then you have to install a new windows systemlocated in a different location in your disk, this way you still go to your saved files and backup your files.
