We have a Garwin Nuvi GPS that keeps asking for a pin number to unlock the system. We have not entered a pin number. How can we unlock it without the pin number?
The only way to do it is to go to the location you set as "home" in the GPS. When you are at that location, the GPS will not ask you for a PIN and you can then go in and change the PIN.
If you don't know what the home location is, you'll need to contact Garmin http://www.garmin.com
There are so many of these being stolen from vehicles, the PIN is designed to make the unit useless to thieves.

Hello, Going back to the security location will unlock the unit but in order to reset the pin code, the original pin code must be input. To unlock the unit, it must be sent back to Garmin.
Try to find your own home address (which you'll want to label as "Home").
From the main screen, select Where to>Address. Change the State, if necessary. This will make your state the default for future searches. Touch "Spell City" and enter your city name or zip code. Enter your house number, and touch Done. Enter the street name, and touch Done. Select the correct street on the list, if necessary. Select it. You'll have the opportunity to Save your address as "Home".

follow this instruction:
Step 1
Lock the screen by touching the "Lock" button. To unlock the screen, press the "Power" button.
Step 2
Lock the device by pressing the wrench icon, then "System" and "Garmin Lock."
Step 3
Press "OK." Then enter a four-digit PIN when prompted. Select "OK."
Step 4
Drive to a security location then press the "Set" button. Now each time you turn on the Nuvi, it will ask for the PIN. Enter it when prompted or drive to your security location.
Step 5
Send the Nuvi to Garmin to get it unlocked if you forgot both the PIN and the security location.
Unfortunatly there is a fine wire Grid below the surface of the glass, the grid detects where you are touching on the screen, with the glass being broken, the grid is broken, which will cause dead spots or regions on the touch screen. You will have to replace the Touch screen or the unit which ever is most cost effective.
