If the model number posted is correct it may be a color wheel.

see attached photo and remove lamp unit as wheel faces it.

Are any segments broken or missing on the wheel?

If wheel is shattered or not moving correct speed set will not fire lamp or work.

Usually a high pitched whine or even a grinding sound is a dead give away it is the wheel.

Let me know and this information is based on the model number posted

Bottom 4 inches of my mitsubishi 65" rear projection tv is distorted. it seems like the colors aren't correct in this area. the rest of the picture is great. Justin

LOOK AT ATTACHED PHOTOS AND TELL ME IF THEY LOOK FAMILIAR.

THE MODEL INDICATED USES TWO of the STK-392-570 CONVERGENCE CHIPS.

I have step by step, start to finish instructions for this repair in this set. It involves getting the middle circuit board out of the set and replacing the two chips.

Total parts cost on EBAY WILL BE UNDER 25 DOLLARS AND repair takes on average about a hour--I have done hundreds of these sets and if you are doing it for the first time it may take longer.

The instructions tell you everything you will need and how to do the repair from start to finish and they are free.

If the information helped you, rate this solution as "very helpful: as I do this here for free.

If you want the instructions let me know and I will post them here for you for free. I will assist you from start to finish if you attempt the repair.

TV will not turn on. Pressing the power button produces an audible click from the rear of the unit, but no other indication of power.

It sounds like a faulty component on the power supply. Capacitors can cause that click you are describing so if you start your check there you might find the problem pretty quickly. Also check resistors near the faulty cap as these could have been taken out. If you are not able to check this yourself entrust a competant technician. Good luck.

Sorry, here is the original post.

When you press power does the led light at all? That chassis has been plagued with bad flyback causing dead sets sometimes the led will flash 3 times slowly then go out. Other times it will make a soft short hiss. Does your set exhibit any of these signs?

Kinda dead

techwolf, you nailed it, control board is bad, I have personally checked the tact switches and they checked good with Ohm meter but the meter lies, problem is module/board is kinda pricey and individual tact switches are not listed individually on parts list, you also have to be carefull that you get the correct one, there are 3 versions of your posted model #, AV48WP30, AV48WP30A, AV48WP30ME, be sure to check which one you have, should be able to order module here; www.partstore.com I have tried cleaning tact switches with "blue shower" but fix doesn`t last, have to change module out, good luck, BMW Rider

Mitsubishi WS65411. Front panel dead.

This set has a keyboard lock feature and it can be removed by pushing in the menu button on the front keyboard on the set for about10 seconds. This should take care of your problem.

Reply to this post if you have any questions and I will respond.
