Question about PC Desktops

My wireless g router was working fine until our power went out. I replaced it with a new one, hooked it up the exact same way, and now am unable to get internet to the other computer. I have tried unplugging, powering off, waiting and everything I can think of and was told to do with now results. Do you have any other suggestions?

If you replace your router, you need to configure it with the ISP settings to get internet.

If you have internet on one computer already. The you will need to configure the wireless on the router.

After which you now reconnect you other computer to the new wireless.

then you will be able to browse from them.

Please let me know if youy need more clarity on any of the steps.

Laptops lose connection

You need to configure MAC cloning for your router to use the MAC address of the desktop PC if the router supports this. If not, then you'll need to change routers or continue to put up with the inconvenience.

For some reason(power glitch or failure possibly), your router is re-starting or resetting and apparently by default presents the first MAC address it sees to the ISP. The ISP apparently has registered your desktop MAC and only recognizes it and this is why you need to clone it.

Eee PC 900 has problem with wireless connection

Hi terryandy,

I am using the Eee PC from Taiwan also. It is running good.

Based on your scenario, have you tried changing another new router?

Your description of having "out of range" is highly probable due to router hardware failure.

Try replacing the router and update us again.

Thank you.

Unable to reset a Belkin Wireless N F5D8236-4v1 back to default

That is indeed strange. Holding in the reset button should definitely clear the wireless router memory. Are you sure that you're going to the right administration page to configure the router? It should be something like 192.168.1.1.

Also... by any chance are there other wireless networks nearby? I'm wondering if your computer accidentally connected to that while the wireless router was off... and now you're going to the wrong router.

If none of that works, try leaving the router unplugged for about five minutes. The volatile memory shouldn't last much longer than that.

I have a linksys wireless G router. My exhusband put a password on it and I do not know the password. My wireless card on my laptop went out and I had to buy a new one. Now I need to have the password in...

I'm guessing you don't have the key to join the wireless network. If you have an ethernet cord you can hook your laptop directly into one of the numbered ports into the back of your router. After it's hooked up open a web browser such as internet explorer or safari. In the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 and a password dialog should pop up and the default router username is admin and password is admin. If thosed don't work try either admin blank or blank admin. After that you should have a page with tabs at the top click on the one that says wireless, then there should be a sub-tab called security that has the wireless key there.

If the admin password doesn't work there is a small red button on the back of the router that you can press with a pen and hold down for 15 seconds to reset the router to factory defaults that means no wireless password and that the wireless netwok will go back to the default name "linksys" . Though if you choose this route you might look into putting a password on your wireless depending on how crowded your neighborhood is. If you need any more help drop me a line on this question.

I believe you need to call the netgear support again and ask if you can talk to their department with replacement concerns. Because if the online replacement order didn't work, your only option is to call their customer support number for manual process of replacement.

Hope that helps.

Can not getinternet on through router with f5d7230#4has been working fine till today changed router with exact same 1 still wont pick it up

When you swapped out the routers did you reconfigure the new one with the same settings as the old one? If not, hook the old one up and write down all the settings and use them for the new router.

Replaced Linksys Wireless-B 2.4GHz 807.11b Router and Wireless B 2.4GHz 802.11b Wireless-B Notebook Adapter with Linksys-N Ultra Range Plus Wireless-N Gigabit Router, and Wireless N Ultra Range plus Dual...

Try resetting your IP address:
The laptop may be trying to use the IP address from the old router.

1) Click Start (assuming Windows 2000, XP, or Vista)
2) Click Run
3) Type in CMD
This will take you to a black command box
4) Type in: ipconfig/release
The chart should show your IP address as 0.0.0.0
Once this has happened, proceed to step 5
5) Type in: ipconfig/renew
You should now see a new IP address listed.

Also note that you need to set up your network key (assuming that you are using one) on both the router and laptop.
Make sure that your router is set up to perform as DHCP server.

Wireless g wrt54g router

First of all, are you connecting with a PC or a Notebook?

If you have the Linksys router, you should replace the MS utility with the Linksys utility it figures your linksys wireless lan card
There are programs you can use to keep track of your router and connections...One such program is called Port Mapper...

http://3d2f.com/programs/34-197-port-mapper-download.shtml

Does your problem happen everday...or every 3 weeks...are you doing anything in particular when you are getting the inability to use the connection?
There is a new Vista patch out there I recommend downloading.
