Are you sure it is a 326? I cannot find where Pioneer ever built that model or it's very old in which case it will not have a separate output for a sub-woofer. If it is an old receiver it will probably be best to upgrade it.
Link for the service manual: http://elektrotanya.com/pioneer_vsx-305_405.pdf/download.html On page 50 of the manual (36 of the pdf) it says for the "Sub woofer pre-out jack (Not available on the VSX-305 model) If you want to boost the low frequencies, connect to a subwoofer power amplifier" Your model will not drive a sub-woofer with out another amp. His sub may be a powered sub?
I assume you mean the subwoofer remains silent during the test. Perhaps the subwoofer is where we should be looking.
If you jack it into one or both of the Tape Out connectors and play some music with substantial low bass, does it make any sound? This would at least prove it is alive.
The best thing to do is to contact the manufacturers. From this i understood that your speaker system is new. You surely have the manufacturer's guarantee. So its better to contact them than to get it repaired or replaced for free. Sir please do not try to open the sub as it will void the guarantee policy.
Hope your subs come into play as soon as possible....... All the best...
signs of a short, did any wires touch while you where hooking or un hooking the amp? if not then the internal power supply probably has a short in it and needs to be repaired. you can swap the fuse for a good one and hook it back up and make sure you don't touch any wires and if it blows it again then your issues is internal and will need repair if it doesn't and everything seems fine then wires could have touched or the amp was ran past it's limit and blew the fuse to protect it self. good luck and ask any more question you have
first off you should have installed an inline fuse block that fuse will pop first an inline fuse is cheap go to a wall=mart it will run you around 10.00 that gets mounted under your hood cut your power cable in half the one part of the cable should be cut 12 inches that will tie into your possitive terminal on your battery after that is all tightened to your battery you will strip about an inch of coating offf of your power wire tie that into the end of your fuse block make sure it is tight than do the same to the other side just measure from there to your mounting spot for your amplifier and tie your power cable into your amplifier use 8 gauge power and ground cable... your problem with your amp is that you burned up a couple capasitors or even a resistor i just fixed an amp that both fuses were smoked just tear your amp apart look under the control board you will see were a sauder joint is cracked those capasitors and resisters are very cheap there made out of ceramic i just got done repairing my friends amp works like a new one.. good luck if you have problems or w you get it fixed email me.. [email protected] best of luck buddy..
Check the main amp fuse under the hood, even if it looks good just change it. Often times that light on the amp can come on just from the power amp tunon wire. Try a friends subwoofer box just to make sure the connectors on your box are good, and if that doesn't work then give me some more details....year/make/model of car, what kind of sub, what types of things do you see on the side of the amp....is there a green light as well as a red light?
Please update your post with any Model Numbers that you can retrieve, especially the subwoofer. Off hand, and with the limited amount of information that you have provided, I would GUESS that your subwoofer is simply overheating, and is being shutdown internally, hence protecting the fuse because no short is detected. If you haven't moved and or vaccuumed/cleaned around or near your system regularly, dust, pollution, pollen...you name it, builds up and can easily prevent electronics from breeathing/venting properly.
