Well for this particular problem, it does not involve battery charging. The RCA TH1611-A uses removable AAA batteries. And I have the same problem with it. You see I had tried to see if I could play my MP3's directly off of the TV by plugging it in to the USB port on the television itself, and somehow it F'D up the format of my disc in question. and now it just says PEARL, and doesn't even get to the part where it says please wait. I tried to format the disc using available drivers on windows 7, but it says that it cannot format. so now I am downloading the drivers from the link provided on this page, MP3-Drivers.DriverWhiz.com
And have not tried to reinstall drivers yet. I will post after that.
I'm having this problem right now I'm trying to let it just say pearl all night to see what it does
The most common cause is a flat battery. There is a trick to charging the battery in these small mp3 players. It wont charge if it is turned on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here what to do...
1. plug the payer into your USB port. or wall charger
2. switch the player on using the mechanical switch (on the side)
3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting "System" from the menu
4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.
